Halloween Weekend

I have been told that the last time I contributed to this blog was the end of July so I guess I am overdue for a post. As is always the case with my posts, this is somewhat delayed. A few weeks back, or maybe it was a couple weeks back...anymore they all blur together, we tackled the nightmare that is Interstate 35 and made the trek back to Kirksville. If any of you have traveled on I-35 north of Liberty in the past two years you know what I am talking about...it has been down to one lane the past two summers and I hear its going to be the same deal next summer. Anyway, it takes forever to get through and those who know me, know that I am probably one of the worlds most impatient drivers, so this part of the trip puts me over the edge every time. I have never seen a road construction project take so long... and it will start up again next spring! Alright now that my "Lissy style rant" is over I will proceed with telling you about our busy weekend back in K-Town. The whole Early crew and all of our minions were back in town for the Halloween weekend. When you get 15 adults ( 9 of them crazy women),5 kids, 1 toddler, and 4 babies together in a house things are bound to get crazy, for video evidence check out Lissy's blog. Add to that two football games and a Halloween Party...all in a 24 hour period. As always it was great to see everyone and to see how much all of the babies have grown; they have all gotten so big. Baylor is the oldest of the four babies by about two months and Brady has already passed him up while the twins, Colton and Carolina are coming on strong. It use to be that you could go home and have a weekend free of holding kids but now if you hand yours off you are guaranteed to get one or two in return. Oh well, I guess you cannot complain too much about getting to hold cute little babies. When we got into town on Friday night we went straight to the football game, it was Molly's Senior night and Briley was super excited about watching her cheer. She got so excited while we were waiting in line because she saw the tiger mascot down on the field. When we got in she noticed that the mascot was wearing a pack pack (back pack)so Briley figured it must be going to its grandma's house. We only stayed for the first half as it was cold and none of us were dressed for the frigid temps (heaven forbid we look at the weather before we head north). On Saturday afternoon we went over to watch Caroline's boyfriend Jared play football; he plays for Washburn and they were in town playing against Truman. It was great to finally get to see him play...even if it did take 5 years. On Saturday night we had my parents Halloween party, Briley and Baylor dressed up as Tinker Bell and Peter Pan; they were adorable and Briley loved the idea of dressing up with "little fella" (her name for Baylor). Bella was also Tinker Bell and Briley thought that was pretty cool. As you can see from the pictures, all of the kids looked adorable and as always a good time was had by all. On Sunday morning we all pitched in and helped my Dad close the pool and put away the pool furniture, which is always kind of depressing because it means another miserably cold winter is ahead of us. We then headed out of town early so that we could make it back home in time to go trick-or-treating with our neighbors. This was the first year where Briley really got into it. However, there was a group of kids that were on the same route as we were and one of them had a "scary mask" so Briley spent the whole night worrying about this kid coming too close. Every time we came to a house we would have to confirm that the people answering the door would not be wearing a mask. Well one time we saw from afar that the guy answering the door had on a Scream mask. The mean parents we are, we sent an unsuspecting Briley to the door with one of our neighbors, well lucky for her the wife answered and said that she just couldn't let her husband scare a cute little girl...darn the luck. Well that pretty much sums up our weekend; we hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
