Happy Birthday Papa!

My Dad celebrates the big 60 on July 1st and unfortunately we are not going to be in town so we decided to go home this past weekend to take him out to eat at AJ's and give him his present.  One of the big things on my Dad's bucket list was to go to a Nascar Race so Amity and I decided to get him tickets this year.  My Dad is a lot like me when he receives a present...not very enthusiastic, but this time was different.  He was so surprised and happy!  He just kept looking at the tickets all night and thanking us for getting them.  The next big question was who to take.  He decided that he would of course have to share this experience with his brother so in October they will be coming down to visit us and enjoy the experience of Nascar:)  I asked him what else he had on his bucket list and he said he couldn't really think of anything else that he has wanted to do.  I told him it was time to start thinking because he has too many years left to have already finished his list!
After dinner we stopped in LaPlata to do a little train watching which Baylor loved!  He follows in his Papa's footsteps when it comes to trains.  We saw two trains come through and then we went to get ice cream to top off the evening.

Happy Birthday!  You are one of the best Dad's a girl could have!

For Briley's birthday this year we all went in on sending her to Kanakuk Kamp Out.  This is a Kamp experience that is just held during the day for a week and then we pick her up in the afternoon.  We thought it would be the perfect introduction to what Kamp is about.  If anyone is thinking of doing this I highly recomend it! She has been doing archery, zip lines, obstacle courses, bungee jumping on the trampoline, and so many more activities.  Her favorite part is the K-Life portion in the afternoon.  She loves singing the songs and watching the skits.  She has been walking around our house all week singing songs that she has learned.  I feel like this experience has really taught her a lot about  living her life like Christ did.  Each day we get a card that has their daily bible verse on it and questions to ask and discuss at dinner time which really gets us all involved as a family.  They also hold a seminar one day during the week for parents to attend.  This weeks seminar is about building self-esteem in your kids and I so wish I could attend.  Unfortunately it is at the same time as a field trip at my school, but next year I will have to plan for it.
