As this year comes to an end, I feel a little sad that the magical time of year is over, and at the same time a little relieved. I was not as organized as I usually am, and I will blame that on Finley. I look forward to what 2014 brings our family, and I get a little excited about organizing our house after Christmas. I'm especially excited about organizing my new craft room that Andy is building for me. He has thought of everything, and has been working down there late each night to get it finished. I can't wait!
Christmas as always was busy, but I hope memories were made for our children.
We celebrated Christmas at our house Christmas Eve morning, and I worried that Briley wouldn't be excited about her gifts because they weren't big under the tree like Finley and Baylor's gifts. Not the case at all! That little girl surprises me so much by her mothering instincts; she seemed more excited about Baylor and Finley's gifts and watching them get excited about them. The gift that she was the most excited about was not Disney World, redoing her room, or her bow and arrow. Her favorite gift was a simple jingle bell from Santa's sleigh. She asked for this at the last minute, and I felt this was a year where she began to question things, so I went on a hunt for that bell. When she opened that gift, she held it up with a smile and said, "he really is real." We gained at least one more year of believing.
Baylor got his tool bench, and he was so cute with it. He would open a present, and then say he had to get back to work. He was not ready to pack up and head back to Kirksville. He also got a Woody:) which he was pretty excited about.
Finley of course enjoyed the wrapping paper, and there is still a little present in the tree that has not been opened for her. She got a jumperoo and sweet little penguin picked out by Briley of course.
We packed up the car and borrowed the car topper from our neighbor for the gifts. As we were heading down I435 the topper opened up and out went our things. My heart was in my throat, and felt like I might just burst out crying. We pulled over and took inventory of our things. It turns out we lost a two sleeping bags, snow pants, gloves, and one gift. We tried to go back by but it was not in a place where we could stop so we had to let it go. I'm relieved that we only lost those few things.
We arrived in Kirksville, went to Church, and then over to my Dad's for dinner. This is always a night that we look forward to because you never know who might be there. We opened gifts with Rick and Lisa and watched some Christmas movies before going back to Andy's parents to settle in for the night.
We got our Christmas pj's on and were off to bed. The next morning we opened presents and then went over to my Dad's to open gifts. We lounged around till about 3:00 before we decided to get out of our pj's and take a shower. Dinner was delicious as always. What I love most about Christmas dinner is that I still have my family together for one night each year, until this year. Am didn't make it back from Montana and Asa spent the night with Kelsey's family. I guess I was lucky to get seven years after marriage to have my family together. Things are just slowly changing.
Christmas night was spent at my Mom's house and we opened gifts again the next morning with my Grandma. The kids made out pretty well this year, and shouldn't want or need anything else for quite awhile:)
We are now busy playing with all of our new toys, putting things away, and of course Andy is working away in the basement.

Merry Christmas
Going to Disney World! Don't they look so excited?
These two have to stick together among all the boys.
Pack your bags, you are on your way to Whitefish:)
