Last week I decided to take the kids back to Kirksville for spring break since we weren't going anywhere this year. It was the first big car ride for Atticus, and for the most part he did pretty well. We went back on St. Patrick's Day and we got into town just in time to go downtown for the St. Patrick's Day race and parade. My Mom was doing the race, and so Briley decided she wanted to do it as well. Ellie joined her and I decided to do the 1.5 run/walk with them. The cannon went off at the start of the race, and Briley and Ellie took off. I tried to keep up with them, but they left me in the dust. I haven't done much other than yoga and walking while I was pregnant so I was pretty out of shape. It definitely made me decide that it is time to hit the gym again. After the race I had a quick celebratory drink with my Dad at the Dukum and watched the parade. I then went over to Andy's parent's house for dinner of green pancakes and eggs which the kids loved.
Briley was able to go to K-Life on Thursday with Ellie and she loved it! I hate that our K-Life house is so far away because I know she would really enjoy going. That night Briley and Baylor spent the night with Andy's parents, and I went out to dinner with Tab. It was great to catch up with her. It's been a long time since we have been able to do something kid free.
Andy came into town early on Friday, and I was so happy to see him. Parenting is so much easier when there are two to tackle the job;) Andy's Dad got fish at the Church fish fry for dinner that night. I look forward to that every year. Later that night my Mom, Mary Carol, Sara, and I took the kids to see Cinderella. I loved it! It is one of those movies that we will have to get on DVD for sure.
My Grandma came up Saturday morning to meet Atticus, and give Baylor his birthday presents. I spent the rest of the day getting things ready for the big party. He has been talking about his birthday since before Christmas and finally the day had come. He had a baseball themed party this year with ballpark food which was pretty easy to whip up. Sara also has a birthday this week and she kept teasing Baylor that the party was for her, which would then get him all worked up. We ate nachos and hot dogs, opened presents, and then the Birthday Boy requested fireworks, which he got. Papa had some left over from this summer so he shot a few off for Baylor. Briley got sick right before the party, and ended up staying at my Mom's. It was so sad that she had to miss it. Baylor really worried about her, and kept asking when he could go see her. He wanted to show her all of his new presents.
Jeff took Baylor fishing Sunday morning before we left town. He didn't catch anything, but I think he enjoyed going. We headed back home after that and the kids slept most of the way. A week of fun had worn them out.
Baylor's real birthday was on Tuesday. We invited the neighbor's over for an impromptu party because he insisted that he needed his friends at his party. He actually snuck out of the house and went next door to personally invite some of them over. We had spaghetti for dinner because that is what he wanted and a red velvet cake. He got a Spider Man bike for his birthday that he has been pretty excited about. He has been asking for a big boy bike and he already wants the training wheels taken off. We also gave him a book that Briley is going to have signed by the author that is visiting the school today, hot wheel track pieces to add to what he got for Christmas, a date night with Mom and Day, dueling stomp rockets. I asked Briley what she wanted for her birthday next month and to my surprise she said, " I want a date night like Baylor got." Mary Carol- it reminded me of the Ikea commercial. The only thing he didn't get on his list is a sword and lets be honest, Baylor does not need a sword. Now that it is over he can start dreaming about next year's birthday which he has already told me that he wants a Lego party.

Got to capture Atticus and his peeling face.

Meeting Great Grandma
The boys burned the grasses in the yard, and then the kids got to help "put the out."
This was Andy's project while we were gone. I love the way they turned out!
