Father's Day, Ballgames, Swim, and a Triathlon

While we were in New York, the other kids went back to Kirksville to spend time with grandparents.  Baylor and Finley went fishing one day with Jeff, and both caught a fish.  They also had fun swimming with cousins, go-kart races with my Dad, and a trip to Chucky Cheese.
After our trip to New York, we jumped back into all our summer activities.  Baseball and softball have kept us busy along with Briley's swim team.  She had her first meet when we got back, and unfortunately Andy was out of town and Baylor had a baseball game.  One of her good friends on the team took her, but I felt horrible about missing it.  It was down close to the plaza and there was no way of getting there in time.
We celebrated Father's Day at home with a day by the pool, and then I made the usual fried chicken, and a french silk pie for dessert.  He bought himself an Apple watch earlier this summer as his gift to himself so we got him some active wear for the trip.
We had a few cool days so I took advantage of that and we went to Deanna Rose and Antioch Park.  Those are always favorite summer activities.
Lastly, we had Briley's triathlon on the Sunday before we left for our trip.  She was pretty nervous about it, and there were some very serious competitors with gear that had all the bells and whistles.  This is something that Andy and I would never thought about doing at her age, but she was inspired by her Aunt Allison doing the half Ironman.  She had a 200M swim, 6 mile bike, and then finished it with a 2 mile run.  She was looking pretty tired by the time the run started, but she made it through.  She placed 17th in her age group, and did the race in 1:04:25.  She didn't train much for this, but I think next year she will if she chooses to do it again.  Asa and Kelsey were there, and they asked her what part was her favorite afterwards.  She said, "none of it."  Definitely harder than she thought it was going to be.
