A Long Winter

January was busy with basketball games, indoor soccer, and gymnastics.  It has been good for the kids to have something to do during this cold winter.  December was so mild, and we are making up for it now. I'm ready for sunshine and warmth.
The Chiefs being in the playoffs this year really added some excitement to our town.  Everyone was just so happy that we made it past the first play off game.  This town rallies around their teams, and it was fun to see everyone sporting their red.  The last play off game was so suspenseful, and it was heartbreaking to watch them lose in the last few seconds.  We all really thought this was going to be the year for them, and it should have.
Two Fridays ago Briley had her first Friday Night Live at school. She was so excited for this since she missed the first one in November since we were out of town.  She went to her friend's house to get ready for it.  They attempted to straighten her hair, but then they put it in braids.  Her friends Mom also bought them little party make up kits so they wore a little make up.
It hit me while I was at Baylor's game that I didn't get a picture of her since she got ready with her friends, but luckily the school pto posted pictures on Facebook.
Baylor had Bingo that night right after his game so we went to that.  It was 45 minutes of Bingo, and ran very well.  Perfect amount of time before the kids start to get restless.
Last Thursday Baylor had his First Reconciliation.  Baylor had been pretty worked up about going to do this.  We sat towards the front so that he would be able to be one of the first ones.  We thought it would help just to get it done so that he realized it wasn't so bad.  There were five priests there and he said he wanted to see Father Brian.  I was waiting for him when he came out, and he told me he didn't think he wanted to do that again.  I told him it won't be so bad next time because he knows what to expect.  We went to the altar to light a candle, and then Andy and I went.  I gave Baylor a little book to keep his holy cards in, and he really liked that lot.  It is like collecting baseball cards.  He has been on the hunt in our house for cards to put in it.
Last weekend we took Baylor to Florida with us for Sully's baptism.  He was so excited to go on this adventure with us by himself. Andy let him pick the car at the airport and he chose a Jeep Wrangler.  We rolled the windows down, and made our way to the beach.  He had packed his swimsuit, but decided not to put it on.  He wanted to walk along the beach to collect shells.  We stopped to eat lunch at a little bar and grill.  He then said he was ready to go see Sully and Emmie so we made our way to their house.
We spent the evening at the Brawner house catching up, and letting the kids play.  We asked Baylor if he wanted to stay there with his cousins or go to the hotel with us.  He wanted to of course stay at the hotel.  He said he never gets the bed to himself when we are at hotels so he wanted his own bed.
The next day we went to the baptism, the cousins spent the afternoon playing, and then we went to Top Golf that evening.  The weather was beautiful, and I spent the day sitting outside soaking up the sunshine.  I could have stayed there a few more days before going back to the cold.
The next morning we left early to make our way home.  My Dad and Asa watched the others, and I think they were ready for us to come home.  Luckily the weather was pretty nice here so they got some outdoor time, and they took them bowling.
This week I'm dreaming of the warm weather while the kids are home for another snow day.  I'm hoping this is the last one, but then again we got snow in April last year.
