It seems like everyday Briley is picking up a new trick or two and she gets very excited when she learns something new. Last week it was waiving, this week she learned to clap and also said her first word…kind of. Much to Autumn’s dismay and to my delight, her first word was Dada; actually it is more like “Dadadadadada”; it gets longer the more excited she gets. We know it has no meaning for her yet because that is the way she greets both Autumn and I. As I mentioned before, she also learned to clap. It’s funny to watch her because very rarely do her hands actually hit together but we are working on it. Sometimes she will clap very slowly just so she can make sure they hit; what a perfectionist.
Below are some pictures and a video from this past weekend. On Saturday Autumn and I were doing some deep cleaning and I was cleaning off the ceiling fans in our bedroom with a vacuum cleaner. We had a pile of pillows on the floor and Briley just settled in on the pillows to watch me. Next time I looked over, she was just in a daze and soon after she was out like a light. It’s something about the sound of the vacuum cleaner that always sooths her. Papa and Grandma Early came into town to pick up Aunt Amanda and Cousin Carson from the Airport; they flew into town for a visit on Sunday. Autumn took some funny picture of Briley, Carson and Viva playing on the floor; they were just climbing all over each other, or should I say, Viva and Briley were crawling all over Carson. Carson is a good sport because his only reaction was to smile; the way he is growing, they won’t be able to pick on him for long. He is four months younger than Briley and already is just at tall as her and weighs in at a pound heavier. It was a three day weekend for all of us, as both Autumn and I had Monday off in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Briley started running a temperature last night and it carried on through this morning. Since she could not go to school with a temperature, I got to extend my three day weekend into a four day weekend. It was not as fun as it sounds; after the Price is Right, daytime television on a weekday goes downhill fast. All is well now and Briley should be ready to head back to school tomorrow. We hope everyone is doing well and keeping warm in these frigid temperatures; I’m ready for summer.
