Fall Activities

We have been busy with all our fall activities, but they will be winding down in the next two weeks. Just in time for basketball to start.   Andy and Briley did their last triathlon of the season on September 21st, with Finley and Atticus joining them for their first one.  Andy did not anticipate the hills that were on the course, and so his times were not quite what he would have liked, but he still came in 5th for his age group and that seems pretty good to me.  Briley got second place for her age group.  She just got a road bike, and that seemed to really make a difference in her time.  Finley got first place, and Atticus followed behind her with second place. The toddler race was really entertaining to watch.  They broke a lot of rules, and maybe took a couple of short cuts to come out on top.  Andy seems to have inspired them all with his racing, and they can't wait until next spring to start again.  Andy has one final big race this coming weekend with the KC half marathon.  Wish we could go watch, but there are four soccer games going on that morning.
Finley had a very exciting morning at the high school cheer camp.  She counted down the days until cheer camp.  She had a morning of camp followed by being in the homecoming parade later that week, and cheering in the football game.  She was all smiles for it all.  She can't wait until next year to do it again.
Next up was Andy's 38th birthday.  He requested fried chicken for dinner, and I got a Tippin's French Silk Pie.  I'll be honest it was not my best fried chicken so I am going to have to make it again to make up for it.  We got him a massage to use sometime during his training this winter or after he finishes the half iron man next June.
The kids had a few days off for parent teacher conferences so I took them out to Louisburg Cider Mill for some cider donuts.  We picked Rex up on the way out since they had both been begging for a play date.  Those two were very happy to see each other, and spent the rest of the day playing.
We officially wrapped up cross country on Monday afternoon.  6:53.9 was her best time, and her best place was sixth.  She enjoyed the sport, and told her coach she would be back again next year.
Lastly, this past weekend was our neighborhood fall festival.  We set up  the movie screen, had a chili cook off, and a hay ride.  The kids look forward to this event every year.
