Happy Birthday Andy!

What a fun weekend we have had! My Dad came into to town on Thursday to spend a few days with us. Briley got to take the day off from school on Friday and stayed home with Papa while I headed off to work. I got home later that afternoon and we headed out to the Kansas Speedway for the qualifying races. My Dad was very excited to see some of his favorite race car drivers race. Briley was really funny to watch. She was very unsure about it at first, but after a few times around the track, she was cheering the drivers on. After a few hours, we headed home to meet Andy for his birthday dinner. Andy wanted to go to Oklahoma Joe's and so that is where we went. Afterwards we got a movie and ate some chocolate cake. Andy and Viva share the same birthday so they each got their own birthday cake. Viva got a peanut butter cupcake from the dog bakery and Andy got his chocolate cake with white icing. Andy got his present from Briley and I a few weeks ago. He got a patio furniture set for our future house and a lawn mower from his parents. There is nothing more exciting than that!
We went to Parkville on Saturday for some antique shopping and lunch at the brewery there. It was a beautiful afternoon and it was nice to get out and enjoy it. Afterwards, my Dad left and Tabitha and Jonathan came. We got a babysitter for the night and went to the Power and Light District with several of our friends. We ate dinner at the Chefburger and then went to the courtyard. We had a good time catching up with everyone. It had been too long!
Sunday was spent relaxing at home. It was nice to lounge around in our pj's for half the day and getting a good nap. Andy's parents flew back from Dallas this evening so we met them for dinner at Stroud's which was delicious as usual. Andy and I decided that we ate way to much this weekend!
I ran across this quote today and I thought it was a good one. "Let the phone go unanswered and let the beds go unmade. Instead, steal those moments to sit side-by-side, play face-to-face, create, read and just be together." It sums up parenting in a nutshell don't you think? I feel that sometimes in our busy lives we forget to relax and enjoy the little moments with our kids.
