Before I begin this post, I need to take a moment to tell you of a painful loss in our family. My second cousin, Ashley Abernathy, passed away this past Tuesday, December 1st, after a courageous seven month battle with cancer. Although any death is painful, this one is extremely heart wrenching as she was only 22 years old. Her funeral is tomorrow, which would have been her 23rd birthday; she was far too young and this is truly a life cut short. I ask that you all keep Ashley, her mother Barb, and her little sister Kelsey, along with the rest of her family and friends, in your thoughts and prayers. It's losses like this that make you hold your children a little tighter because you never know what the future holds.
It has been a long while since we have done a post so I am unsure about where to begin. A few weeks back (I have lost track), Kaitlin, Zane and their dog Max came to town for the weekend. Viva and Max become instant friends; I kid you not, those two dogs wrestled around for three hours strait on Saturday. We spent the weekend doing some Christmas Shopping and catching up. This was their first time to see our house so now we need to make it up to middle of nowhere Iowa to see their new house.

The next weekend Lissy came into town for some photo shoots; it's amazing how quickly her business has picked up in such a short time. Saturday night we went over to our old neighbors house for a game night. We played some games but we spent most of the night eating and catching up with each other; since it has been cold out, we don't see each other near as much as we did during the summer. We also took advantage of the nice weather that weekend to finish putting up our Christmas decorations, and I have to admit, our house looks pretty darn good. I was going to make Lissy and Autumn stand out there on Saturday night and do the drum roll (for Christmas Vacation) when I turned on our lights but we ran out of time.

Last week we ventured back to Kirksville for Thanksgiving. This year was my parents year to host the Killday (mom's side) Thanksgiving. My Mom's side of the family is rather large; we typically have around 80 people for Thanksgiving. For that reason, we usually do it out at the fair grounds multi purpose building but my Mom was adamant that she was going to do it at our house this year. Much to my surprise, it worked out very well. Her and my dad worked very hard on all the preparations and we cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful Thanksgiving. That night we had another Thanksgiving dinner at Autumn's Mom's house and it to was delicious; thanks Julie and Marilyn...two Thanksgiving dinners in one day is a tough task so we made sure we did not over eat at either of them (which was an even tougher task). On Friday we had Elie's birthday and it was an event. When you fill a room full of two and three year olds and surround them with presents, it bound to get out of control...it was really funny to watch.
This week we have flung ourselves into full Christmas mode. Our trees and decorations are up and we had Briley's Christmas Party at her school this past Tuesday. Briley's class sang a song but Briley spent the whole time running around the room; oh well, she was still cute. I have a video of her performance posted below. This Christmas season has been so much fun, Briley is really getting into it and has to help us with everything. We have an advent house and every morning she gets to open a door and get a peice of candy, well this morning Autumn came down stairs to find Briley shoving her face full of chocolate...who knows how long the candy will last because she is pretty sneaky.
