I Guess Its My Turn to Post

Where to begin...it has been more than a month since we last posted. We have been playing the roll of the weary road warriors this summer, in fact out of the previous 8 weekends we have been home for one, and even then we had guests. Autumn has been on me for the past few weeks to update the blog but I always had an excuse as I could never motivate myself. She even went to the point of uploading all of the pictures so I figured I better post before she tied me down to the computer. It has been so much fun (most of the time) watching Briley and Baylor interact. Briley is absolutely smitten with Baylor; she is always doting on him and talking to him. Baylor is just as interested in her; his eyes follow her all around the room and he just lights up when she comes over to talk to him. Actually, Baylor lights up when anyone looks at him. I have never seen a baby smile so much; he makes everyone feel special. If anyone has been around our little Briley lately you know that she is the Princess of Questions. I know kids her age ask a lot of questions but Briley takes it to a whole new level. If you are driving down the road and a car pulls up next to you at a stop light, Briley will ask "Who's in that car?" You would say "I don't know" and with most kids that would be the end of it, but that is not the case with Briley. She wants a name and will not stop till she gets the answer she wants. She will ask you questions that she already has the answers to; she just wants you to confirm she is right and watch out if you answer wrong (or wrong according to Briley). I am not kidding when I say she probably will ask 30 questions in an hour...its exhausting and my parents and siblings get a kick out of it because they say I was the exact same way. I guess its true when they say a parents best revenge is grand kids; lets just say with our adorable little inquisitive, stubborn, and independent (too much like her daddy) three year old my parents are getting plenty of revenge. As I said before, the past month has been busy. We had a wedding in Columbia for Erica Rentschler. It was a beutiful wedding, and Briley really enjoyed to reception. She was showing off all her moves on the dance floor. For the 4th of July we went back to Kirksville for my parents 4th of July party. My Grandpa Mike and Karen were back in town with all the Colorado cousins so it was great to see them all; they even treated us to a lovely dinner at Stroud's when they came through KC. We also got to see my uncle Shawn and his wife Veronica's new baby boy, Harrison. He is a few months older than Baylor and is another adorable, happy baby boy. We also found out some exciting news that weekend...the Early family is gaining another baby as Kaitlin and Zane announced they were having a baby. It is due in February and we could not be more excited for them; they are going to make great parents. I guess we are going to have to something I swore I would never do again, make trip to Iowa in the dead of winter. Briley did not want to go home with us after the Fourth and it turned out Lissy would be coming down to KC the following Thursday so we thought this would be the perfect time to letter her stay with the Granparents by her self. Well, needless to say she did not miss us at all, was spoiled the whole time, and still did not want to come home when it was time to leave. Now every time we go back she thinks she gets to stay and ends up crying as we drive out of town...are we really that terrible to be around??? This past week we went on our summer vacation. Typically we go down to the Florida gulf coast but due to the oil spill and all the uncertainty surrounding it we decided this would be a good year to try something different. Our neighbors have a house up in Door County, WI which is located on the Wisconsin peninsula where Green Bay and Lake Michigan meet. The peninsula was line with one picture perfect town after another; it was like The Great Outdoors meet Dirty Dancing. We went with Julie, Amity, and Asa and we all enjoyed the food, ice cream, shopping, beautiful sunsets, more ice cream, wine, some more ice cream and the wonderful weather (it was in the lower 80's our whole trip) We did venture to the beach a couple of times but the water was a little cool, although Briley seemed oblivious to the water temperature and swam the whole time. Overall it was a very relaxing trip and we would love to go up again sometime...we think it would be the perfect place for a little fall getaway. On our way home from Vacation we stopped in Kirksville for Mr. Lincoln's 1st Birthday Party. Allsion went all out on the decorations and the party was a hit. Lincoln had plenty of help from his cousins and siblings when it came to opening his presents and thoroughly enjoyed his birthday cake. So there you go...a brief synopsis of our month. I'm sure I missed a lot but at 9PM on a Wednesday its the best I could do. This weekend we are again trucking back to Kirksville for Julie and Jeff's wedding and then we do it all again the next weekend for our 10 year class reunion.
