Last Friday we went to St. Louis for Andy's Uncle's surprise 80th birthday and it was such a nice party. Jim was completely surprised, and his family had done such a great job putting it together. It was nice seeing everyone and catching up.
Saturday morning we met Andy's parents for breakfast before they went back to Kirksville, and we went to the City Museum. We have been there several times for weddings and reception but we have never gone just to play, so we met my friend Katie and her family for a day of fun. It had been a couple of years since we got together so it was fun to catch up and let our girls play. Afterwards, we went back to Lissy's for a nap while Lissy and I went antique shopping and searching for Cardinal's shirts. Andy's cousin was nice enough to give us tickets to Sunday's game and of course I hadn't packed any Cardinals gear. That night we went out for Mexican which was really good and they had a singer/guitarist that came around to the tables to sing. He gave Briley and Baylor maraccas and tambourines to play along with him which was cute. We then decided to go to Maple Days for some carnival rides. Briley got her tickets and decided that she wanted to ride the tilt-a-whirl. She started out with a big smile on her face and as the ride began, the smile faded and was replaced with terror. I thought for sure she was going to lose her dinner before the ride ended but she held out. She just got off the ride and informed us she did not want to ride that ride again. We rode a few more rides and then went to get custard to cap off the evening.
On Sunday, we went our to lunch with Andy's good friend from college, his wife, and their little boy. We hadn't seen the Davis family for awhile and so we had a lot of catching up to do. They also had tickets for the game and we sat pretty close to one another. The Card's unfortunately lost, but we did get to see Fred Bird which was exciting. This was Baylor's first game at Bush Stadium and the first one that Briley could remember. Thank you Bruegenhemkes!! It was a perfect day for a ballgame.
