Milestones and Memories

The last few weeks have brought a lot of milestones and memories in our household.  We went back home last weekend to celebrate Asa's graduation from high school.  Amity originally wasn't able to come home because she is coming back this weekend for a wedding and couldn't afford to come twice in a row, but we worked a few things out, and in the end she was able to come.  Getting to Missouri from Montana is no easy task and it took her about 24 hours of traveling before she was finally home.  The kids and I picked her up at the Kirksville airport and when the plane landed we saw that she was lucky enough to be the co-pilot on a 9 passenger plane:)  No one knew that she was coming so we first went to my Dad's house to surprise him.  We went inside while she called him on the phone outside of his place.  He was talking away to her when she walked in the door.  I love the expression on my Dad and Uncle's face.

After that fun surprise we went to my Mom's which was entertaining too.  She started crying and hiding from my camera so I don't have a good one to show you.    Asa's graduation was good, but a little hot.  I am hoping by the time I go to Jackson's they have air-conditioning.  Congratulations Asa!  We are very proud of the young man you became and we can't wait to see what path you take next.
Asa has been dying to find out what present we got him because we told him about a month ago to keep the first week of July open.  It was driving him crazy and we dragged it out a little longer by not telling him until we were getting ready to leave on Monday.  He is on his way to Montana with Amity for a week of mountain biking, hiking, aerial ropes, and wrestling bears.  We hope you have fun!

After we got home from Asa's graduation, we had a crazy last week of school for Briley and Baylor.  Briley had her Kindergarten graduation from Goddard.  There were seven in her class that she started out with in the baby room and went all the way through.
Briley and Baylor both had very sweet programs at Blue River on the last day of school.  I knew that we were in trouble when we walked into Briley's room and the teacher had placed kleenex boxes on each of the tables.  The class sang some sweet songs and Briley was so hoping to get the sand blocks to play for one of the songs and she did.  The teacher then played a video that she had made of their year which was adorable.  The pictures to music was so sweet and I am so happy that we got a copy to take home.  After gathering all of her things, we had an ice cream party outside.  Andy slipped into Baylor's class for a little bit and they too had a video and ice-cream.  It is hard to believe that Miss Briley is officially a first grader!

This weekend we had family in town for Briley's dance recital.  My Mom, Asa, Andy's parents, Caroline, and Molly came in on Friday and we went out to eat at Wil Jenny's.  The meal was delicious and relaxing.  We came home and Briley showed everyone her Kindergarten video to cap off the night.  The next afternoon was her recital and she did a great job.  She has been so excited to finally get to dance on stage.  She danced to Slippin and a Sliden.  This year they split up the recital into two so you didn't have to sit through a long one which was nice since Andy's family had to get back to Kirksville for Ellie's recital that night.
