It's the Holiday Season

We have been busy around the Early household lately, but I have really been lacking in the taking pictures department.  We left off right before Thanksgiving, and believe it or not I didn't take one picture during the holiday.  I just hate taking pictures of people with food in their mouths, and therefore I didn't get any at all.  We went back home and it was overall a relaxing few days with a lot of eating, going to the movies to see Hero 6 and Mockingjay, and online shopping.  There was a little bit of stress with Andy when I missed the deal on the gift he was wanting, but another deal became available and he forgave me...I think although he is one to never let me forget.  I think someone forgot what Christmas was about;)
We also celebrated Ellie's 8th birthday which is hard to believe.  Our girls are getting so old!  I pull out old outfits of Briley's for Finley and it truly feels like Briley was just in them.  Since Ellie's birthday was on Thanksgiving, Allison made the Thanksgiving meal which was delicious.
On Tuesday I had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment.  I had a low lying placenta again with this pregnancy and so they wanted to check that out.  All is well and the placenta has moved into place.  I really didn't mind seeing the baby one more time before it is here.  It was giving us some big yawns while we were watching.

My Mom came in on Wednesday to watch the kids while I had a dentist appointment on Thursday and Briley's First Reconciliation on Thursday night.  I took Mom on her first trip to Ikea Thursday afternoon while Baylor was at school. She seemed to be impressed in all they had to offer.
That night Andy and I took Briley for her First Reconciliation.  The mass was supposed to be long so we didn't want to take Finley and Baylor.  Briley was pretty nervous about the whole thing, but we had plenty of suggestions that she could say:)  They had six priests on hand and Briley went in when it was her turn and came out skipping so I guess it wasn't too scary.  After the kids went, it was open for parents which Andy really didn't want to go, but Briley wasn't going to let that go.  He started in one line and then moved to another because it was taking forever.  I think there was a lot of parents who hadn't gone in awhile because they took a long time.  He ended up being the last one which you can guess how that went;)
Friday morning I decided we should go bowling with my Mom's group at Church.  It was only five dollars for kids and parents were free.  I hadn't planned on seven four year olds on one lane.  It took us two hours to go eight times, and finally we just snuck out in the middle of the game.  Baylor was done along with all the other kids.  After that we went to a few stores and then home for naps.  We picked Briley up from school that afternoon to go visit Santa.  Our weekends are pretty full and I wanted to make sure we got the opportunity to go.  Finley started to get upset when Briley handed her over to Santa, but they started ringing jingle bells and she got distracted.  I think they even got a little smile out of her.

On Saturday, my Mom and I took Briley and Baylor to see The Nativity Paul Mesner Puppet Show at  the Episcopal Church downtown.  We sat right on the aisle which was fun because they would come right by us with the puppets.  They weren't your normal sized puppets, they were about ten feet tall with people inside them.  Unfortunately, they wouldn't let you take pictures during the show, but Briley went up to see the Angel Gabriel after the show.  It was the only puppet that was handheld.  I think both of the kids enjoyed the show so I know we will try to come again next year.
That night, Andy surprised me with a trip to the Plaza.  My Mom had asked if we wanted to go out for dinner, and I said we might try a new BBQ place.  I suggested it to Andy and he said how about  a steak dinner.  I am one to never turn that down.  He said he got us reservations at Plaza III and a room at the Residence down there.  We walked around the Plaza for awhile and then went in for our reservations.  Overall, the food was good, but the service wasn't the best. We know its a busy time of year, but they are a well established restaurant.   Andy said he liked Capital Grill better, but at least we can say we tried it.  After that we walked back to our room and slept in until after eight.  AMAZING!  Sunday morning we got up and went to Westport to eat at the Beer Kitchen.  Oh my goodness it was good!  We had drunken doughnuts with chocolate sauce and then bread pudding french toast with bacon.

After we got home, my Mom went home and I took Briley to get items for the child she adopted through school.  She was a little upset because she got an 11 year old who wanted only clothes and no toys.  We got a cute outfit and boots, my only hope is that this girl has the same flair in fashion as Briley.
This week Andy was out of town for work, and the kids and I decorated the gingerbread house.  We have also been busy with activities from our advent house.  Each day the kids have something new to do.  Some days are easy like reading a Christmas book or watching a movie and other days take a little more planning on my part, but they love seeing what we are going to do each day.  We've had scavenger hunts, snowman sundaes, Grinch day with green food, and today the excitement of stamping and stuffing the Christmas cards.

There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays...
