Two weeks ago was Halloween and we decided to go back home to celebrate. It isn't often that Halloween falls on a weekend and we thought it would be fun for the kids to go trick or treating with their cousins.
Before going home we had a class field trip to the pumpkin patch with Baylor's class and Halloween parties at school. This was our third trip to a pumpkin patch, but Finley and Baylor enjoyed it just as much as they did the first trip. After the trip we all met up at McDonalds for lunch, which is always exciting.
Halloween parade at school and Olaf among the pirates, super heros, and police officers.
We took Briley out of school right after the parade to beat the traffic out of town, and made it home just in time to start trick or treating. It was a cold night and they really didn't last too long, but I think they had fun.
The next day Andy's parents had a Halloween party which was fun, but cold. Finley was not a fan of the cold, and Andy finally took her back inside the house. The kids enjoyed a hay ride, smore's, and piñata to cap off the night. I did not get hardly any pictures because I was inside the pool house trying to keep Finley from being grumpy.
Last week was spent working on Briley's class sweet tooth auction basket that I signed up to do for the school carnival. I wanted to get as much bang for the buck so I would buy things and then find it cheaper and buy more things, and this week I have the joy of returning everything I didn't use.
Last Friday I woke up to the sound of one of our kids getting sick in the bathroom. Oh joy! It was Baylor and I got him and the floor cleaned up and back off to bed. He got sick a couple more times during the early morning, and then he seemed to be done. I gave him Sprite, crackers, and a banana and he kept it all down so I thought we would still be good to go back to Kirksville that night for my Grandma's 80th birthday. I called Andy to tell him we were still on, and he had no idea that Baylor had even gotten sick. I thought he was just ignoring it, but I guess he slept through the whole thing.
It was great to go home to celebrate with my Grandma and spend time with Juan Carlos who had made the trip from Costa Rica to be here. Southwest is going to start flying to Costa Rica in March so we are hoping to be able to see more of him.
I also took my Dad up to get his first smart phone. He has had the same flip phone for eight years and it finally broke down. Now the fun part is trying to teach a person not just about a touch phone, but also a person who has never gotten on the internet. He has moved on up to the 21st century which is pretty exciting.
Today I signed the kids and I up to collect cans at the school line drop off for Kids Caring for Kids. I signed up a couple of weeks ago before I realized how cold it was going to be. I got one of neighbors to come over and watch Finley so at least she didn't have to be outside with us and we were off. It was cold, but it only seemed to bother me. They both held signs and collected cans until school started.
Lastly Finley, Baylor, and I did a little painting with feathers today.
