Happy 9th Birthday Briley!

Earlier this week Andy went to Washington D.C. for work.  Traveling has picked up, and he has been gone the past three weeks.  He's been to Louisville, D.C., and now Tampa.  The good news is he gets to visit a few sisters, and although D.C was tiring, I think he had some fun too.  Here are a few texts I got late one night.
Taken from a rooftop bar that he was at.  On his way back to his hotel, he stopped to capture a few more pictures.

Friday morning Baylor was so excited to get up and go to kindergarten round up until we actually got there.  He clung to my leg like he had never been there before!  The counselor had to pull him off my leg, and take him to his class.  Of course when we came back out he was all smiles.  The boy is so excited to finally be going off to kindergarten next year.
Friday night Briley had the last soccer game that Andy and I will get to see this season.  It was definitely the most interesting game.  Briley's team won the game 3-2, and Briley scored one of those goals.  I actually was video taping when it happened, and I was so excited to capture that.  Her team has one more game, but regardless of whether they win or lose, they got second place in their division.  Such a great season.
Baylor had a soccer game on Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon so that was busy for him.  I missed Saturday's game because Briley had softball practice, but I did get a couple of pictures at Sundays.
Oh my we finally made it to the end of our monthly birthday marathon.  Our finale was Briley's glow in the dark party Saturday night.  We decorated the garage in black lights, glow sticks, and neon.  Briley had four friends come over that night for pizza, glow in the dark painting, karaoke, fierce game of kick ball, and cake.  We couldn't get over how great it went.  The kids screamed in the garage while we had a nice quiet meal inside, and then Andy took them to the back yard for kick ball.  Her class is pretty serious about their daily recess game so we know they would jump right into it.  It was supposed to be glow in the dark,, but it really wasn't that dark when they got started.  After that we went in for cake and presents.  We would go out from time to time to clean up after one activity and get them started on the next.  So much fun!    It was hard to get good pictures of a glow in the dark party, but I did my best.

It was really hard for Andy and I to believe that our first is turning nine.  She has been with us for exactly nine years, and in nine years she will be gone.  Crazy to think about.  She is really the perfect oldest child.  She cares for her siblings in a way that I just have never seen before.  They love her, and look up to her so much.  She is a natural born leader, and so independent.
She has also blossomed this year in school.  After several years of worrying about her, she has found the teacher that has made everything click.  The struggles over homework have disappeared, and she truly enjoys school.   I feel like right where she is where I would like to keep her;)  Nine is an awesome age to be!
Briley was up at 6:00 on her birthday, and had everyone else with her.  She requested waffles for breakfast with sprinkles, and then I took her to school since she had her school treats.  After school, we opened presents, went to eat at MiRanchito, and then off to her first softball game of the season.  Her uniform hasn't come in yet, so she just wore a light blue shirt.  They played the best team in division (or at least we hope they are the best) so it was a little rough.  Briley did have a couple of good plays, and we were proud of her for doing her best.  It's hard to join a new team where everyone knows each other, and has played together for several years.  We might try to do something different next year, but we will see how this season goes first.
Finally here are a few pictures of Atticus.  He loves balls.  They can really keep him entertained for extended periods of time.  The other night he was really trying to put the basketball in the hoop.  It was pretty cute to watch.  He also was loving my black beans from my mexican leftovers the other day.
The biggest news for him was that he started taking steps on Briley's birthday.  We have captured it on video, but not on the camera yet.  Hopefully I'll get a picture this week.
