Summer in Full Swing

My goodness this summer is getting away from us.  Baylor and Finley went to Kirksville with my Mom and Jeff a couple of weeks ago for a few days.  This was Finley's first trip away from us.  While they were gone, Briley had book club, and we spent a day at the ropes park.
After book club on Tuesday, we took off for Pella to see Kaitlin and Zane's house.  Andy was really upset I didn't take pictures of it for him to see.  It turned out beautiful, and I think after building three houses, they have got it down.  Love all the details they put into this house.  After eating dinner, we loaded up and continued our way to Kirksville.  We got home around 9:30 and the kids went straight to bed.
The rest of the time we were in Kirksville, the kids did a lot of swimming, train watching, fishing, and hanging out with cousins.  This was a big request for Briley this summer.  She wanted to spend more time in Kirksville.  I think they all had a lot of fun.

Andy left for New York on Sunday which was kind of a bummer.  I hate it when he has to travel over the weekend.  He was gone until Wednesday.
The kids had vacation bible school last week.  The theme was Cathletics inspired by this years olympics.  This is the first time the kids have been able to go to vacation bible school because I couldn't take them while I worked, and last summer Briley had summer school.  So bummed they missed out on it previously because it was really great.  I worked two of the days in the nursery so Finley was excited that she got to be a part of it too.
This past weekend Andy and I celebrated our anniversary by going out to dinner on Friday.  We went down to the Plaza, and had a nice long meal.   I wish we had more of an opportunity to do this because it is so nice to spend time with just the two of us.
Saturday morning we were up and at the ball fields for Briley's game.  This was the first kid pitched game, and that was interesting.  They all did a great job for their first time hitting, and pitching against each other.  After four balls the coach would step in to throw the pitch so they still got an opportunity to hit.  Andy and I really liked the way they had it set up.
Baylor had a game that night, and we went to MiRanchito beforehand for dinner.  He was Mr. Cool in the restaurant.  After his game, we came home and the kids played for awhile.  It turned out being a beautiful night.
Sunday was Father's Day so I got  up to make pancakes and bacon, but Andy did not stay in bed to eat it.  After we had breakfast, the kids gave him his presents, and later that afternoon we went to the pool.  It was a beautiful day to spend swimming.  It was hard to get the kids to leave!  That night I made fried chicken and a peanut butter pie for dessert.
This week Baylor went to Kanakuk Kampout.  He walked right in without any problems.  It surprised me a little because I am used to the boy clinging to my leg.  He was so excited to tell us all about his day when he got home.  He couldn't wait to go back for day 2.  I can't wait to see what this week has in store for him!
Finally, my Grandma ended up having a stroke last week.  After some scans, it looks like it wasn't the first stroke for her.  She is out of the hospital, and in an assisted living place in Shelbina.  The kids and I plan on going to visit her this weekend.  I tried to talk to her on the phone, but I think talking to her in person would be a lot better.  It's times like this that I wish we lived closer.
