Happy Thanksgiving!

We went back to Kirksville for Thanksgiving as we usually do on Wednesday.
Thursday morning we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving parade while we got the food ready for lunch.  Jeff smoked the turkey over night.  It really turned out delicious.  My brother picked up my Grandma, and she seemed happy to see everyone; especially her sweet dog Maggie.  After lunch we cleaned everything up while the kids played with a typewriter. They all really enjoyed playing with it.
Later that afternoon, we went to Andy's house for dinner.  Again, it was another delicious meal.  When we were finished, Mary Carol and I took Briley, Ellie, and Baylor out to write messages on the neighbor's driveways.  It was nice to get out for fresh air, and we got a quick little act of kindness in on the day of thanks.
Friday was filled with Black Friday shopping online, and then Baylor, Dad, and I went train watching for awhile.  It was a slow day for trains so we only saw one in the time that we were there, but Baylor did have fun collecting rocks that he wants to put with his train set at home.
Andy went to a family wedding in St. Louis on Saturday, and I had lunch with Tabitha to plan our trip  to San Diego next month.  So excited to spend some time with them.  It has been way too long!  That night we went to Dad's for BBQ ribs, and again we ate too much.
We finished our trip by celebrating Ellie's 10th birthday party.  It is hard to believe that she is in the double digits, and Briley will be there shortly.  They are growing up all too fast.
Andy went to Philadelphia Monday morning for a one day trip.  While he was gone, I took the kids to  the store to pick out gifts for our adopted child at Church, and then we dropped that off at Church.  The kids had Church on Tuesday, basketball practice on Wednesday, and Baylor and Briley had a dodge ball game with the fourth grade teachers after school on Thursday.  Our school has these teacher treasures where you pay a quarter to enter your name in a drawing to do something with the teachers.  Briley could invite one friend to join her, and she chose Baylor.  I think they both had a great time.
The week wrapped up with me going to a celebration dinner for my old boss Betsy who sold her school, and is now officially retired.  She seemed to be very happy, and it was great catching up with everyone. Saturday morning we got a babysitter so that Andy and I could go out to buy new countertops for our kitchen, and carpet.  After that we had Baylor's first basketball practice.  Andy said it was pretty entertaining to watch.  That night we went to dinner with our old neighbors, and we always love the opportunity to catch up with all of them.
We went to Church Sunday morning, and again I was blown away by the beautiful flowers for advent.  They had greenery around the candles, and then it was filled in with purple roses.  I really don't know why anyone would buy flowers to decorate the Church for a wedding because the ones they do are always beautiful.  The Knights had a pancake breakfast afterwards with Santa so we went down to that.  The Santa was very sweet, but Finley began crying as soon as she saw him.  She refused to get in for a picture.  That afternoon was Briley's first basketball game.  The next three weeks determine the divisions of the teams.  She played a really good team that had already played several games so it was a little rough.

I found all these items in the trash the other day.  Atticus is all about cleaning up the house.
