A Month of Memories

November is usually a time when we have a little break between sports, and life is calm before the holidays.  This year was unusually busy, and full of fun.  The biggest news of the month was that my brother got engaged!  We are so happy for them, and the kids look forward to gaining a new aunt.  When I told the kids Baylor said, " Does this mean Asa is a grown up now."  I guess getting married officially makes you a grown up.  Welcome to the family Kelsey!
The first weekend of November we took the kids to Maryville to watch the Bearcats play.  Baylor has been asking to go to a football game, and we decided it would be fun to take a little day trip up.  We should the kids where we used to live, took them to A&G's for lunch, and then went to the game.  It was a beautiful day to be at a football game, but unfortunately Northwest lost.  The kids all had a great time though, and we have our fingers crossed that they will decide to go to school there.

My sister came to town a few weeks ago to visit everyone.  My Dad and Rick came to our house for a couple of days to see her.  We went to a brewery, did some shopping in the West Bottoms, checked out the Johnson County Museum, and enjoyed the beautiful weather that we had.  It was the last week of enjoying the fall colors.
After they left, we packed up to go to Big Cedar for the weekend.  Andy and I love going down there, and the kids do too.  My Mom, Jeff, Kelsey, and Asa met us there.  We got there early so I threw out a few decorations to celebrate the engagement.  It was warm so we took the kids to do some miniature golf, and then they went ice skating.  The sunset that night was breathtaking.  Once everyone got there we had pizza, cupcakes, and champagne.  We know how to throw a fancy party.
The next day was kind of cold and rainy.  We went up to Top of the Rock for lunch, and the kids went to the fun zone while I took Atticus back for a nap.  Later that afternoon we went to Silver Dollar City.  It was very crowded, and that really took the fun out of things.  The adults all talked about how miserable it was, but the kids had a completely different outlook.  Not once did they complain about the weather, they loved the train ride, Briley's favorite ride was the swings, they each had favorites in the parade, and Baylor did not like Asa spinning the teacups;)  They talked about it the whole way home.  I did not take hardly any pictures because I think I was so cold to take my gloves off.
I took Amity to the airport on Monday morning. It always feels like the week flies by when she comes to visit.  By the way I didn't get the picture of you and the kids this trip!  That evening Briley made her chorus debut at the Leawood tree lighting.  The weather was great that night which was lucky for us.
On Tuesday Finley had a big surprise, her best friend that moved to California came to visit.  I didn't tell her, and she was so surprised to answer the door and see Lily standing there.  They played all afternoon, and into the night.  So happy they got to spend time together.
Wednesday was 6:40am altar serving.  We found out that this is the last time she will have to do this mass.  They are doing away with altar servers for the daily 6:40 mass.   After we got home we packed and were on our way home for Thanksgiving.
