Summer Kick Off

We began summer by first making a trip to Kirksville.  It was so strange but I didn't take one picture the whole trip.  Regardless, the kids had a blast swimming all weekend long.  A few days after getting back, my Dad and Asa came to watch Briley and Baylor play ball.  It was Baylor's first game of the season, and he did pretty well.  While they were here we went to Science City at Union Station one afternoon and then made a stop at the Boulevard Beer Hall.  Later that afternoon Asa took Finley on a bike ride.  She is starting to get the hang of pedaling, and mastering this hilly neighborhood.
Friday night we had a movie night in our yard for the neighbors.  We had a great turnout, and I think everyone enjoyed getting together even though it was very warm outside.
In the middle of the night Friday, I heard a thump and Finley was crying.  She had fallen out of bed so I put her in her own bed, and gave her some ibuprofen.  The next morning she was still complaining that her shoulder hurt.  It was impossible to get a shirt on her.  I took her to the doctor, and they did an x-ray.  Sure enough, her collarbone was broken.  They gave her a sling, and told me to continue pain medication for the next few days.  She was a pitiful sight for a couple of days, but we made it through.  She seems to be doing a lot better now, and we will go in on Monday for another x-ray.  Baylor's friends were pretty sweet, and they showed up with flowers, stuffed animals, coloring books, and then a special delivery from Hy-Vee that was a bouquet of candy from her aunts. She was moving all of the attention for sure.
Sunday night was a Sporting KC game.  Briley chose to go with a friend who had invited her to the same game so Baylor asked his buddy Rex to join us.  We had front row seats again, and it is just amazing to be so close to the players.  As we were sitting there before the game one of the guys on the field asked if we would like to get on the field for a picture.  Of course we went and he took our picture. Briley was in the next level up so she yelled down to us when she got there.  One funny thing was that we had the camera guys crouched down in front of us, after we scored they turned around and filmed Baylor doing the dab.  Our neighbor was watching the game, and told Baylor the next day that he was on tv.  He was pretty pumped about being famous now.  We won the game 4-1, and as we walked out we talked about the fact that we have never seen them lose.
