I feel like I can't quite catch up on the blog lately! On August 24th the Brawner's welcomed Sullivan James. I'm so excited for them, and cannot wait to meet him!
Finley lost her first tooth on August 26th. It was very exciting, and then of course there was some soreness that had her upset. A rollercoaster of emotions when you lose a tooth. Baylor and her were wrestling on the floor, and he knocked it out. Granted, it was just hanging on by a thread.
I didn't mention it before, but we have had several meals sent to us over the past few weeks, and it has been so nice to not have to worry about that while Andy recovered. We have been completely spoiled, and my pants are feeling a little snug. It really helped with all of the back to school festivities.
Finley lost tooth number two Thursday night while she was eating an apple. Again, it was a dramatic affair, but she was also excited after it was over.
We decided to go home for Labor Day weekend, and the kids got to experience a high school football game. They all had so much fun, and the Tigers won! Atticus got a haircut Saturday morning to get him ready for his first week of school. He always looks so big after getting it cut. That night was Sadie's first birthday party. She was just about as excited as a one year old gets for their birthday. She did have fun playing in her cake and using utensils. It was a very sweet party with beautiful weather. Sunday was Church and pool time. We also celebrated Mary Carol's 65th birthday with ice cream cake, and a new robotic vacuum. Andy liked the vacuum so much he bought it for our house. That night we had dinner at my Dad's and then the kids slept over at my Mom's for the night.
Finley and Atticus officially started preschool last week. They were both so excited to finally begin. It is hard to be patient when Briley and Baylor have been going for so long. Finley marched right into St. Michaels with a big smile on her face. Atticus was a little more shy and uncertain about it all. He is going to Awesome Kids three mornings a week. I have a lot of plans for these mornings each week, but haven't accomplished much yet. The time seems to fly!
Last week was so rainy and gross all week long. There wasn't a lot of breaks, and the kids had to spend a lot of time inside. The rain was just constant. Finley did have her first day of dance for the week, and Baylor's team squeezed in practice, but Briley's did not. I also went to Women's night at St. Michaels with my friend Mary. We were never able to go last year because it is the same night as RCIA, and had wanted to try it out. Sister Susan Pieper of the Apostles of the Interior Life was the speaker, and I don't know as there was a dry eye in the place when she was done. She told the story of Chiara Corbella Petrillo. She is being called a saint of our time, and her story is worth a read.
Since the weekend was rainy also, we decided to take the kids to Top Golf. Baylor took his friend Cameron, and Briley took her friend Ainsley. They all had a lot of fun, and it was the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday.
This past Tuesday Atticus had his first dentist appointment, and he did so well. He sat in the chair by himself and the dentist was able to clean and floss his teeth with no problem. He was very excited about his new toothbrush. That night I had book club, and it was good to see everyone. I haven't been able to go in a long time so it was nice to go even though I did not care for the book this month. Next months book has already got me hooked though.
Today I got a phone call that Baylor had thrown up at school. I picked him up and took him to the doctor. He had been complaining of a stomachache, and his back hurt. He also had a small fever. They did a strep test and it came back positive. I never would have guessed that. He is home with me tomorrow, and is feeling pretty miserable right now. Hopefully no one else gets it.
