I wanted to make sure I got our Halloween post in here before Thanksgiving approaches. The days are flying by so fast! We got home from D.C. on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday was Halloween. I spent the day going to school parties and parades.
That evening we got everyone ready and went down to our friends house down the street for pizza before heading out. It was the perfect fall night. After eating, I took Briley over to her friends house. It was the first year that she didn't trick or treat with us. She was an apple app, and her friends were also all apps. After I dropped her off, I went back to our house to park, and the kids were coming down the road. Atticus really got in to the trick or treating this year. He did a pretty good job keeping up with all the kids, and made it a good portion of the way through the neighborhood before hopping in the stroller. We made it back home around 7:30, and I got a text at 8 that Briley was ready to come home. Surprisingly we didn't have as many trick or treaters as I thought we would have so we had a lot of candy left over. I thought with it being a beautiful night that there would be more.
We were off to Kirksville on Friday after school because Juan Carlos and Floria came to visit for my Grandma's birthday. We had dinner Friday night, drank wine, and caught up since we last saw them. We don't usually see them twice in a year, but it is always wonderful to see them. They brought back soccer balls for Briley and Baylor so they were pretty excited about that. Baylor has taken his to school everyday for recess this week.
Saturday morning Briley and I went to the Bridal Shoppe with Kelsey to see her dress. It is really beautiful, and she is going to be one gorgeous bride. We also went out to Hobby Lobby and got some garland to use for centerpieces. So excited for their big day, and so is Finley. She has been decorating these big lace doilies at school each day, and she says they are placemats for the wedding.
That afternoon we went out to the Farwell ranch for the Donde de Farwell bike race. It was a tough race, but I think both Briley and Baylor had fun. Baylor got some bike lights that he has put on his bike, and he goes on night rides around the cul de sac every night after dinner.
That evening we went to Shelbyville for dinner with my Grandma for her birthday. Sharon and David met us there and I hated we had to sit at different tables. It has been so long since I have seen them, and wished we could have talked more. I know Grandma was a little overwhelmed by it all, but at the same time there were a lot of people who came into the restaurant that night. I think she was happy to see so many people.
On Thursday morning I took Atticus to the police station for a tour. He was hesitant about the whole thing. He wasn't going to get too close to the police car, and he stood right next to me as we toured. I tried to get a picture of him in the jail, but again he wasn't going to get off my leg. Baylor was disappointed because he wanted to see the inside of their jail cell. I guess I should have taken pictures for him. After that, we picked Finley up at school and went to the Sprint campus for their Veteran's Event. They had a chinook helicopter that you could go into along with other police and military vehicles. It was really cold so we didn't stay too long, but they liked checking it all out.
That afternoon we got our first snow. I have to admit I was a little excited about it. It was one of those good wet snows that stuck to the trees and looked so pretty. The kids were so excited about it. It kind of gets me in the mood to start putting out Christmas decorations, but I will try to refrain for a few more days.
