We have been home for a few days and slowly getting things organized and put away after all the hustle and bustle of Christmas. We celebrated our Christmas at home last weekend before our trip to Kirksville. We went to Stroud's to eat which is always delicious and looked at Christmas lights before going home. The kids got to open one present which was new pajamas and then they were off to bed.
Briley was in our room at 5:15 the next morning yelling, "Santa has come! Santa has come!" We slowly rolled out of bed and Andy went downstairs to get the lights, music, and fire turned on. The fire was a new one for us and I will talk about that later:) Briley went running downstairs and was so excited to see what she had gotten. Baylor refused to come down and we finally had to go get him. Briley was excited to get her American Girl Doll and Penguin Light up Pillow Pet. Baylor just cared about his train set and really didn't want to open anything else. I was excited to get a Cameo Silhouette from Andy which was a huge surprise. It is really going to come in handy. I just have to figure out how to use it, which I am not the quickest with technology so we'll see how that goes. After the kids played for awhile, we started getting ready to drive home. The fire was still going in the fireplace so Andy told me to get the fire pit and he would scoop it out with a shovel and take it outside. Well, as soon as it came out of the fireplace it really started to flame. We had a bonfire in our living room and the fire pit was to wide to get it out the back door. Andy ran to the garage door and shoved it through. Our house was full of smoke with the alarms going off, and I couldn't stop laughing. What a way to end our beautiful Christmas morning.
Our trip home was a good one. It was nice to be home longer than a weekend and the kids loved playing with their cousins. Briley always gets so sad when we have to leave them. We had Christmas with Andy's family, my Dad, and then at my Mom's and they were all wonderful. The best part of the whole trip was Christmas night. My family always comes over to Andy's parent's house for Christmas dinner and it only happens every two years that EVERYONE is there so Andy and I took that opportunity to tell everyone that Baby number 3 is on the way! I made a little note that said,
"T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse, the stockings were hung by the chimney with care one for Briley and Baylor, but mine was not there. Briley was first wild and free, Baylor was second as sweet as can be. I'm still warm in Mom's tummy though she doesn't show, who will I be, in August we will know!"
We decided we would slip it into the crackers that we pop before dinner each year, but the problem was we couldn't find the crackers. They are usually down in the basement, but we could not find them down there. I finally thought they might be in the china cabinet, and sure enough they were there. I took a box and stuffed our notes in four of them. I marked those four and could never find a moment when no one was upstairs to sneak them back up. Lucky for me, Mary Carol gave me the job of setting the table which made it easy for me to go get them and place them where they needed to be. We succeeded and everyone was excited, but probably not surprised. Of all people, my brother had it figured out the night before when I didn't drink.
We are excited about number three and a little nervous. I'm more nervous about getting through the pregnancy with our busy lives. It is so darn hard to work all day, run to practice, make dinner, give baths.... I'm hoping for some help with that this time around.
