After we got home from California, we jumped right back into our busy schedules. We celebrated my birthday on Sunday. The kids made me little crafts that they worked on that day, and we went to dinner that night at the Brass Onion followed by cake at home. It was a nice low key Sunday.
The week following my birthday, Briley got her braces and RPE on. I usually complain about the school being cancelled, but it actually worked out for her. Her mouth was pretty sore after she got them on so it was nice that she could get some ice cream and go home. It is so strange to see her with braces. It makes her look so grown up.
Friday was the Dodge Ball Tournament at her school. It started at 3:00 so I was late getting there since I had to pick Baylor up at 3:45, but luckily her team had not gone yet. They ended up beating the other three 6th grade teams, the winning 7th grade team, and lost in the championship game with the 8th grade girls. They almost won that, but there was some cheating going on with the 8th grade team. The parents decided maybe it would be better if they didn't win. You don't want those 8th graders after you.😉
The next two weeks was the end of basketball and indoor soccer seasons. Baylor's team wrapped up their last 3 on 3 basketball game. He always looks forward to getting his trophy. Briley's team made it to the championship game, and lost. It was such a close game, and they did a great job. Her team has been so much fun to watch this year.
In soccer she finished the last game with a 13-0 win. She scored 7 goals during the game so she was pretty happy. I'm pretty sure that it is the most she has ever scored in a game. Baylor finished his season with a win too. Now we are back to playing outdoors with our first games this weekend.
We also wrapped up our gymnastics. Finley and Baylor both moved up a level for next year if they decide to do it again.
Since we have been inside with the cold weather, Finley and I decided to put together her lego castle that she got from her Papa at Christmas. We finally completed it, and she has been playing with it non stop. I think she is going to be a lego fan like her sister.
The day before spring break, Baylor had his talent show. I unfortunately just got a video of it because I was holding Atticus so he could see, and I'm sure they wouldn't have come out very well anyway. He did a great job! It made me so nervous to watch, but he nailed everything. I was so proud of him for getting up there in front of the whole school. That takes a confidence that I never had.
To kick off spring break, the kids did a Top Golf camp. It was from 9-12 and they got to eat lunch there. I think that was the most exciting part. They both had a great time, and are asking if they can do it again this summer.
On Wednesday we headed to St. Louis to spend the night at the Sedlaks before heading to Louisville. The kids were excited to play with each other, and I feel bad that we kept them all up late since they had school. I'm sure Thursday was rough for the kids.
The next day we got into some bad storms on our way. The tornado warnings kept going off, and we were researching what you should actually do if you are stuck on the road. We saw a few funnels that looked like they were beginning to form, but they were not in our path, and we just quickly kept going to get out of the area. That afternoon we made it to the Bobzien house. The kids were excited to be out of the car, and the weather was warm so they were outside enjoying it.
The next day we went to Churchill Downs for a tour. So much fun to see it all although it was a little chilly. I think the kids will be a lot more excited to watch the derby this year now that they have been there. They also learned how to bid on horses. It is good to be knowledgable in gambling.
We took the kids to Louisville Mega Caverns to do the ropes course on Saturday. Briley was all over that. She was not scared to do all of the ropes course activities. Andy went with Finley, and she did both the upper and lower levels. She definitely does not have a fear of heights. Baylor did all the lower, and went up top with Andy before turning around and coming back down. I asked him why he came down and he said, "don't you remember, I'm afraid of heights." So that was that.
After getting cleaned up from that, we went to Grassa Gramma for dinner. This place had so many fun details that I loved. The food was delicious too. Such a great night, and a good way to end our trip. The kids had a blast, and are asking when we are going back to Kentucky again.
On Sunday morning we were up to see if the kids had caught any leprechauns. They hadn't but he sure made a mess all over the house. We quickly got things picked up, and then were off. It was a long drive back home, but the kids did a great job
