Happy 9th Birthday Baylor!

Baylor's birthday was last Sunday, and it was quite the celebration.  He has been asking Alexa for months how much longer it is until his birthday, and that was no different on Sunday.  The night before he had gone to an indoor professional soccer game with Andy and his soccer team so he had gotten to bed late.  I waited until he finally fell asleep at 11:30 to take balloons into his room.
Sunday morning we had pancakes for breakfast, and then we were off to Church before his big party with friends.  Once we got home, we did some last minute things to get ready before his friends began arriving.
He had a nerf themed party this year.  His friends all brought their guns, and I had plenty of ammunition for them.  They had an obstacle course, shooting practice in the storage room where I had hung table cloths with dartboards on them, and balloons from the ceiling to shoot at.  Everything went well until we played capture the flag.  My goodness these kids did not handle the competitive game well.  We quickly ended that and went to snacks, cake, and presents.  We finished up with a pinata before they all left.
Once that was all over we went to Mi Ranchito for dinner.  It was funny because when Finley told the waiter that it was his birthday, he said oh no I don't want that(even though he did).  The waiter said not to worry, he wouldn't do anything.  The waiter handed out boxes for leftovers and the check.  You could tell Baylor was a little disappointed that they weren't going to give him the treat, but then all of sudden they came out.  Trying to play it cool had almost backfired on him.
He opened his presents when he got home.  He was excited about his guitar, his new shoes, his bluetooth football, stomp rocket, and a full supply of nerf guns.
After it was done he told me how sad he was that his birthday was almost over.  He really had been looking forward to it since Christmas. It was a beautiful day with a lot of celebrating this great boy.  Sometimes I look at him, and wonder what he is going to do one day with his life.  He has a drive, and passion that I know he will put to good use.  He seems to always be on some sort of mission, and when he does you will find our desk drawers all hanging open and a trail of his supplies.
Conversations with him are always entertaining.  I really should write them down more often.  I usually leave the other kids at home when I pick him up, and we get 10 minutes of chatting while we walk back home.  On many days that it the only time that we get to talk during the day because as soon as he gets home he is out the door to play with friends.  He is always on the move.  In fact, his first question each morning is what the plan is for the day because he has to have enough time to play outside with his friends.  Playing outdoors is the highest priority for him.
Love this kids so much, and all that he brings to our family.  Happy birthday to our number 2!  We love you!
