As I sit here with four sick kids home from school, I am dreaming of a week ago when I was sitting on a beach. Last week Andy and I went to South Beach for a little getaway thanks to his previous trip in January when he got his wallet stolen. As a gift to him, they gave him a four night stay with massages and beach chairs included. We took advantage of that, and had such a great time.
Our days really consisted of walks on the beach, soaking up the sun, reconnecting, and reading a really good book. I don't think I realized how much I needed a few days like that, and I feel so much more energized to begin the holiday season.
We had some really great meals while we were there. We ate at a Greek restaurant that had a flaming cheese appetizer that was so yummy. We also went to an Italian place that I would make a trip down there just to eat at it again. It was like stepping into a Grandma's house. The room was small with about 14 tables, the cook was standing in the front window of the restaurant making pasta when you came in, the gnocchi were so light and fluffy, and then you came to the dessert. We ordered tiramisu, and they made it right there at the table for you. Pane and Vino was really the best Italian food I think I have ever had.
On our last day it was unfortunately rainy that morning, but we did have a couple's massage in our hotel room to look forward to, and it was just what we needed. I think with all the training Andy does, he needs to do those more often. We ate lunch afterwards and then sat on the beach for an hour or so before it was time to pack up and head to the airport.
Such a wonderful trip that I look forward to doing again one day.

Perfect Getaway
We liked how you got a view of the city if you looked to your right, and a view of the beach if you looked to your left.
I had a thing for these lifeguard stands. They are all different, and so much fun along the beach.
Versace's home that is now a hotel.
A view of our hotel at night.
Loved to walk down Ocean Drive to look at all these fun art deco hotels during the day, and at night.
Our room had a view of the cruise ships coming in and out of the harbor.
