Summer Time!

Summer is here, and it feels like things are slowly starting to go back to normal around here.  We have had a spike in the last week, but nothing like other parts of the country.  They have ordered a mandatory requirement that you wear masks inside buildings in our area  It is such a weird feeling right now with people trying to dodge each other, and keep a distance.  It is just a whole lot of awkward moments with so many people having strong thoughts one way or another.
Earlier in the month my Dad's cousin brought us their foosball table that they no longer use.  They said they only played it a handful of times.  The kids have had a lot of fun with it, and they were pretty excited about the surprise of them showing up at our house with it.  We had not told them it was coming.
Finley and Baylor continue to make You Tube videos, and are always looking for new ideas on what they can do for them.  We might need to buy some more merch because Baylor wears his shirt about every other day.
A few weeks ago we went to Lake Perry with some friends and rented a pontoon boat for the day.  We were there from 10:00-6:00 and the kids had a blast.  It had a slide off the top of it, they jumped off the roof, we had a lily pad to float on, they did some rock climbing, and loved the opportunity to drive the boat.  Such a fun day that we might need to make an annual deal.
Finley had her dance recital the first weekend of June.  It wasn't on a big stage but instead they did it at the studio.  They tried to make it special with lighting, and a background.  One class was there at a time.  She had two dances with a costume change, and it took about 30 minutes.  Andy said it was the best recital ever.
The parks opened up, and we have made it to three different ones.  We have gone to the rope park, Roe and Antioch Park so far.  It is nice to have something different to do, and everyone else feels that way too because they have been pretty busy.
Baseball and softball started and we have had several games so far.  Briley has won three games and tied one.  Baylor lost four, but had their first big win last week.  They really needed that one for their confidence I think.  Baylor had his first hit and had a triple.  He was pretty pumped about that, and had the crowd laughing because when he hits the ball, he just goes.  He played against his friend Rex's team so that was fun for them.
Andy and I celebrated our 15th anniversary. We celebrated by getting a hotel room downtown, and going out to a nice dinner.  It was so nice to have a little getaway even if it was for a night.  We tried a new restaurant called Fox and Pearl.  It was voted best restaurant in Kansas City for 2019 and is located in the Westside neighborhood.  The restaurant is in an old drug store that they completely renovated.  I had the pork chop and it was really good.  Andy got spare ribs that he said were ok, but not as good as what he thought for the best restaurant in the city. The finale was the desserts, and I will say those were very yummy.  We got a buttermilk pie slice with homemade strawberry ice cream,  and angel food cake with lemon ice cream and fruit.  The fruit even contained huckleberries which is a first that I have seen at a restaurant around here.
After we were done, we walked over to the crossroads area and got a drink at Imperial Brewery.  It was an outdoor beer garden, and was pretty busy but big enough that you wouldn't worry about people being too close.  I then thought I had made reservations for the roof top bar down there, but when we got there they couldn't find my reservation and I couldn't find my confirmation.  I must have hurried through it, and missed something along the way.  That was ok though because we walked through the downtown and stopped to listen to a little band playing outside in the power and light area.  So nice to get out on the town even though it was maybe a little different.
This year for Father's day we made a pancake breakfast while Andy was off on a run.  After breakfast we went to Church and then spent the rest of the day swimming at the pool and hanging out at home.  I made one of his favorite desserts which was bread pudding that he loves from a restaurant in Fresno, and of course we had fried chicken for dinner.  The kids got him some new bike shorts, honey stinger waffles, a Chiefs koozie, and some awesome homemade shirts.  They were all very proud of what they had picked out.
Atticus has begun doing swimming lessons down at our pool.  He has been so excited to start something since the others have been busy with their sports.  He has really gotten much more comfortable in the water without his puddle jumper on.

Andy is pretty excited about his new bike shirt that Zane sent him.  He wears it proudly.
