I follow someone on Instagram that talked about how great November is, and after reading her message, I couldn't agree more. November is a time to snuggle in, and rest before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We had fewer games, fewer practices, and it was lovely to just be home.
Briley had her end of the year banquet for cross country earlier this month. She received the award for most valuable player this year. She had such a great season, and improved so much from last year. Briley has put so much into the season, so we were very proud of her.
Soccer ended for both Briley and Baylor the first weekend of November. They both had tournaments with Baylor's being in Wichita and Briley's here. Baylor's team lost the championship game, and place second. He had a blast hanging out with his teammates, and having a weekend with Dad. He sent me pictures of every thing they did. They stayed in the coolest hotel, and ate at the best restaurants;). Briley's team tied two games, and won one game. Unfortunately their team did not move on to the final game although I think she was ok with that. She came home, and started decorating her room for Christmas.
Amity and Billy made their way across the country to spend some time in the midwest. After living in Whitefish for 10 years, they decided to move away. Amity will be a traveling physical therapist, and her first spot is Rolla, MO. We are excited to have them so close for a little bit at least. While they were in town, we did a little charity work at Scraps KC. It is a great charity that repurposes old art and craft supplies. Usually you get the job of sorting donations, but we were lucky, and got to scrape pill bottles that a local artist is going to turn into a coral reef. It was the funniest little project that had us scratching our heads, and our fingers were sore by the end.
The next weekend, Briley and Andy did the Turkey Grind half marathon. Baylor was supposed to do the 5k, but he was sick. It was a cold morning, but Finley, Atticus, and I cheered them on as they raced. We got donuts, and went along the race route. Briley was a little grumpy, but they finished with a great time. She got seventh in her age group.
We went back home for Thanksgiving, and it was fun to have Amity there as it has been ten years since she has been back for the holiday. We had the Killday Thanksgiving in Baring that afternoon. It was a little bit of a sad one, and I think it very well could be the last. There weren't many people there this year, and it was just quiet. The kids still had fun playing on all the old playground equipment, and of course a football game. The kids always have so much fun going to the lake.
We had three other Thanksgivings and we celebrated Miss Ellie's 16th birthday. My goodness that is hard to believe! Time needs to slow down, but it doesn't seem to listen to me. The years fly by faster and faster it seems.
We have been battling a little bit of sickness in the house. Baylor was first, and then Finley got a stomach bug, and now Atticus is home. Fingers crossed that he is better by tomorrow, and that the rest of us stay well. I had to laugh at Posy yesterday while Atticus was sleeping. She stayed right there with him.
