January Fun!

After Christmas, Ellie had a basketball game in KC.  We took the kids down to cheer her on.  Briley wore my old letter jacket to the game to show tiger pride.

January is usually a month that I am not that fond of, but this January has been so much fun!  We celebrated New Year's with family and friends at our house.  2022 was pretty good year for us, and I hope 2023 is just as memorable.

Atticus had his buddy over for a sleepover.  It was their first, and they were both very excited about it.

Andy and I took off for sunny Miami Beach the following week.  Andy had a conference for work there, and I enjoyed the beach time.  We stayed at the Royal Palm, and lucked into a two bedroom two bathroom suite with panoramic views of the beach.  I don't know how we got that fun upgrade, but we enjoyed it!  Each day, Andy would sneak down between meetings to sit for a bit, and bring me snacks.  I read two books on the trip, did a lot of walking, and got a wonderful massage at The Edition.  I love that hotel so much, and enjoyed spending my day there.

Our nights were spent going to work parties, that had a great atmosphere and some yummy food, but conversation was a little boring at times.  There is only so much talk of banking I can do. I loved checking out all the different hotels though, it is my favorite part of Miami.  We also enjoyed a dinner at our favorite restaurant Pane and Vino.  That place never disappoints.

After his conference was over, we went to Pompano Beach because he had some properties to look at there.  We got two more days at the beach before going home.  Again, we got another great hotel room with views.  This beach was much more quiet with just families and older people.  We did see a manatee swim by one day.  We learned that there are quite a few in the area.  There was not much around our hotel to do so it is not a place we would probably go back to, but it was a very nice beach, and we found a couple of good restaurants that we enjoyed in the evenings.  It was a nice relaxing ending to the vacation.  I missed the kids, but it was nice to be in the sunshine and warmth for a few days.

When we got back, it was back to the swing of things with basketball, dance camp, and indoor soccer.  Lissy decided to stay with us until Caroline had her baby so we spent a lot of time with the Brawner crew...waiting.

On Wednesday, Caroline went into labor, and we had a new nephew born at 5:23p.m.  Patrick Michael is the sweetest, and we are so excited to welcome him to the family.

Briley had a race at NWSU Sunday morning.  It was a long day for them, but she had her best time in the one mile at 5:43.  She was excited!  Andy took the girls to A and G's for lunch afterwards.  He said it hadn't changed a bit, and not as good as he remembered it when we were in college.
