On New Year's Eve, Andy and Jared took Baylor and Sully to a Chiefs game. It was a cold one, but Baylor had the time of his life. He has been begging to go for a long time now. After the game, we went to Brawners for a New Year's party. I was still feeling sore from all the hip and lower back issues that I have been having so we didn't stay until midnight. Atticus and Finley had a sleepover with them, and Briley and Baylor came home with us. We watched the ball drop from our bed, and then went to sleep.
Andy and I went to Miami Beach the following weekend for his work conference. The weather wasn't as nice as last year, but it still felt wonderful compared to Kansas City. I spent my days reading and taking naps by the pool or ocean. I think it was just what I needed. We hit up some of our favorite restaurants down there, and tried some new ones too. Our last day was sunny and 85 degrees. It was hard to say goodbye to that weather, and hello to -15 degrees in Kansas City.
Mr. Patrick celebrated his first birthday when we got home that following week. He is the sweetest little boy, and we loved celebrating with him. We especially loved his Dad making steaks for his dinner. They were delicious.
Amity came into town that Friday, and the girls and I picked her up at the airport on our way to Kirksville to celebrate Kelsey with a baby shower. We had her shower at Sip Saturday morning, and it turned out to be very cute. Baby It's Cold Outside was the theme, and it really was cold and snowy.
That afternoon, we went to Shawn's Bridal shop for Briley to try on prom dresses. I loved that she wanted to go to the same spot that I went to get my dresses over the years. We all have such fond memories of trying on dresses at Shawn's, and because of that, everyone wanted to go with us. She had a quite the crowd of people in there to watch. Her Grandmas, Amity, Asa, Kelsey, Allison, Ellie, Krista, and Kaitlin. She really loved all the attention she got; just kidding. In the end, she found a dress that she loves, and it looks beautiful on her.
This past Sunday, Tabitha and Jonathan came to spend some time with us. We watched the Chiefs play off game, and we won against the Baltimore Ravens! I can't believe that we are going to the Super Bowl again. We had a great time having them here, and we look forward to the next time.
