After going all week with what seemed like no sun, the nice weather this weekend was a welcomed presence. Grandma Julie and Asa came to town on Friday for Grandparents day at Briley’s school and from what I hear Briley was VERY excited to have them there; thanks for coming Grandma Julie and Asa. In anticipation of our guests, Briley and Autumn made brownies on Thursday night; well I should say Autumn made the brownies while Briley licked the spoon, mixer, and bowl clean (the picture tells the story).
On Saturday we made a trek out to Nebraska Furniture Mart so that Grandma Julie could get a new video camera and we wanted to look at tile for our master bathroom, which along with finishing the basement, is one of my many interior projects to get me through the winter. Grandma Julie and Asa had to head back to Kirksville for a wedding so we said our goodbyes and then Autumn, Briley, and I headed to boutique shop over by our house to look for furniture for Briley’s big girl room. Not only did we find everything we needed, but we were out of there in 15 minutes with our loot, which from a guy’s perspective is a successful shopping trip. One of the items we got was a large mirror to put above the bed so I had to build braces for it and attach it to the wall (very securely). Then we painted Briley’s bookshelf so that it would match the rest of the furniture in the room. Aside from some pictures that need to go on the walls, Briley’s big girl room is done.
Unfortunately, Briley was not able to enjoy her new room as she has come down with the flu. She crawled into bed with Autumn and I at about 1AM on Sunday and proceeded to vomit all over the bed; it was lovely. After getting the bed and Briley cleaned up, we all went back to bed. She threw up again on Sunday morning and has been running a temperature off and on since. Papa Early called her in some medicine and she seems to be feeling better today but we will probably keep her out of school for a couple more days just so she does not get anyone else sick. We got a call from Grandma Julie on Sunday and she and Asa are both sick with the same thing; Autumn and I are crossing our fingers and hoping we do not get it.
I have also posted some pictures of the witch I made for the front yard; Autumn found the idea in a magazine so we had one of her friends draw us the pattern so that all I had to do was trace it onto some plywood, cut it out and paint it. It turned out to be really cool but I must admit, sometimes in the morning while getting into my car I will catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye and it makes me jump a little.
We also have one last bit of BIG NEWS, cousin Bella is also going to be a big sister, Sara and Ryan announced to the family that they are having a baby. So get this, our baby is due the end of March, Sara and Ryan’s baby along with Amanda and Todd’s twins are due the exact same day towards the middle of May, although Amanda will go early with the twins. Craziness, four new babies in less than two months and when you include Lincoln, that is five babies in nine months; the number of grandkids in our family will have doubled in a year (Grandma and Papa Early are going to have a busy spring). We are growing by leaps and bounds. Congratulations Sara, Ryan and Bella, we are so happy for you and can’t wait for the little ones to arrive.
