Happy 6th Birthday Briley!

Briley is a girl who loves celebrating her birthday, and this year it was celebrated for a couple of weeks. We had family in town for Mary Poppin's a few weeks ago so we went ahead and celebrated her birthday with them then.  Briley requested cookie cake so thats what I made and the party was very low key.  We ate some pizza, the kids played outside, and we finally got to presents around 10:00 that night.   Her real birthday was this Thursday, and it began with waking up to a decorated bedroom and then Andy made pancakes before school.  I brought her snack to school which was dirt pudding with green sprinkles and soccer balls on top.  I picked Baylor up from his room and he got to join in on the festivities and then we stopped by McDonalds to grab some lunch before heading to Goddard.  Briley then had another celebration with her class at Goddard and got to make her cake to share with the class.  After school, it was time for soccer and we just so happened to be signed up for snacks so I made more dirt pudding cups.  She had a great game and got her first goal of the season which she was pretty excited about.  The kids gathered around for snack and one of the Dad's said that I must have gotten the idea for my pudding cups from Pinterest.  I get a lot of ideas from Pinterest, but this was actually from my own head:)  I feel your pain Allison.
After the game, we went home and had a delicious dinner of Macaroni and Cheese, Smallcakes cupcakes, and presents.  She told us that she really wanted to get her ears pierced for her birthday which kind of surprised me because she has never mentioned it before, but I of course take every girly opportunity that I can get from Miss Briley.  She also is getting to go to a Kanakuk Day Kamp here in Overland Park this summer for a week.  I think it will be a great way to introduce Kamp to her and I know she will love it!  Thanks to all the Grandparents that donated to the cause:)
This year I asked her her favorites and here is the list:
Color: Blue
Movie: Dolphin Tales
Song: Call Me Maybe
Book: Franklin books
Toy: Nerf gun
Best Friend: Cooper
Sport: Soccer
Dinner:  Fish sticks and macaroni and cheese
Favorite place to go: Disney World
Best part of school: Recess
What do you like to do with your family: Play Monopoly
What makes you happy? Going on a trip
What makes you sad? Leaving Montana
The funnest thing you did this year? Ski
What do you want to be when you grow up?  A firefighter...one of the little girls on Briley's soccer team's Mom is a firefighter.  When she is on duty the firetruck pulls up to the fence and they all get out to watch the game.  She even drives the truck which Briley thinks is pretty cool.

On our way to Mary Poppins.  The show was a little different than the movie, but Briley still enjoyed all of it.  Especially "Steppin Time."  If you haven't seen the show, watch this part on You Tube.  Such a fun song production!
Our battle every night.  We put these two in their separate beds and then we come back upstairs to go to bed and they are together.  We should have just made a bunk room. Notice how Briley has every cover on her and Baylor sleeps with nothing.

Baylor and I went to Fritz's which he loved.  He could hardly eat because there was just so many trains to look at.

Getting her earrings for her birthday.

The Story of Getting Briley's Ears Pierced:)
So Briley was so excited to get her new earring for her birthday.  She wanted me to pierce her ears the next morning so she could show her friends and teachers at school.  I explained that we would have to go to a store to get it done over the weekend.  On Saturday, she kept asking me all morning when we were going to go, so finally I said it was time and we were on our way.  We got there and she picked out the ones she wanted and got on the chair with a big smile on her face.  The girl asked me if I wanted them done at once or separately.  She said if I thought she would jerk during the process, that we should do it  separately.  Briley is always good at getting shots so I thought this would not be a big deal for her, but I was wrong.  She pierced the first ear and then Briley immediately put her hand to her other ear and said she didn't want the other hole.  We both explained to her that we needed to do it and she threw a massive fit in the middle of Claire's:/  After thirty minutes of this, I called Andy and he came up to help.  He held her on his lap with her hands down while I leaned against them so she couldn't kick the girl doing the piercing and held her head still while she screamed bloody murder, but we got the job done. Although I am sure anyone walking by the store thought we torturing the poor girl.  After the tears she was ready to pick out some earrings and send Ellie a picture.  The rest of the day she showed everyone her new earrings and was happy as a clam.  I on the other hand needed a nap from exhaustion.  I was really wishing that I had Willadene there with me.  She went with me when I got my ears pierced and I remember not wanting to let them do the second hole, but as many of you know you don't mess around with Willadene.  When she tells you to shape up, you do it.
