Usually January is kind of a low key month of hiding out inside, but this has not been the case this year. My Mom, Jeff, and Asa were here three weeks ago because we had gotten them a night on the plaza to see the lights, and have a yummy dinner. Asa hung out with us while they spent the night down there. He unfortunately had to have surgery on his ankle so he decided to sleep on our couch so that he wouldn't have to deal with the stairs, he woke up in the morning to Baylor playing with his train. The boy could sit there all day, and watch that train go around the track.
During that week, Andy finished his winter projects by tiling the bathroom in the living room, and putting in a new vanity and sink. It really looks great.
The next weekend was Andy's parents, the Farwells, and the Taylor's coming into town. We took Andy's parents to see Late Night Catechism on Saturday at the Starlight Theater. Oh my goodness was it funny, and yet terrifying. You prayed the whole time that you would not be called on. The theater was small, and set up like a classroom. She treated you as her students, and you did not want to mess up.
That night we went to Prairiefire to eat at Grimaldi's Pizza. This is a pizza place that is well known in New York. It is right when you cross the bridge from Manhattan, and it was in fact on my list of things to do on our upcoming trip. We were able to scratch that one off because they opened one right here in Overland Park! It was so delicious, and Andy and I have been craving it since we went.
Sunday was the big Marvel Action show for Baylor, Andy, and his cousins. They went to the show, and the rest of us went to Ikea. It was a freezing cold day, but we braved the weather and crowd at the store.
After the show, we were off to Briley's basketball game. Briley did a really great job playing this game. They lost, but the margin keeps getting smaller. The girls have really improved over the season. Briley had three baskets which was a high for her, and she only left the game once. She is a hustler.
This past weekend we had yet another visitor. Lissy came into to town to do a photo shoot. We took the kids to kaleidoscope on Saturday morning, made a super cute collage of Atticus, and had dinner at BRGR that night.
Sunday morning we went to Church because Briley was recognized for a pro life poster that she made. She got second place so she was pretty excited about that, and her prize was a DQ giftcard. She was a pretty happy girl.
That afternoon Lissy left, and we went to another basketball game. Oh my goodness was it the craziest game we have had yet. Briley scored 22 points, and had 5 steals! Granted she should have probably done a little more passing, but wow. She finally quit dribbling all over the court, and started charging up the middle. She had four fouls so the free throw points helped her score;) They lost the game by only one point, and she played the entire forty minutes. I really think basketball might be the sport for her, but then I say that about every sport she does.
Last of all Atticus is 11 months old! I took some quick pictures of him out in the snow, and he of course would not keep his sticker on for me. He also decided after about a minute that he doesn't really care for the snow. He got a new tooth this weekend, and another one starting to shoot through. He has mastered climbing up stairs much to my dismay. He also started to crawl on his knees, but he still finds that the army crawl is faster. He loves emptying my cabinets, and drawers, unplugging lamps, all that fun stuff. My goodness we are going to have a one year old in less than a month!
I also found some funny pictures from the aspiring photographer in our house. Baylor loves to take pictures, and I sometimes like to see his perspective. Atticus is his model.
