This past weekend we celebrated Atticus's first birthday party with a Where the Wild Things Are theme. I had this party picked for him from the moment he was born, and loved the way it turned out. It was our last first birthday party, which is still sometimes hard for me to believe. It is really amazing how quickly this part of our lives flew by. In the moment it feels like it is never ending the sleepless nights, a baby whining at your feet as you make dinner, and all the baby equipment strewn across the house, but slowly our baby items have disappeared one by one, and all too soon they will be gone. As much as I love having more space, my chest tightens each time I give something away. At the same time I also love to see our babies grow, and I dream of what their lives will be like. I look forward to the next chapter, and all the fun we have yet to make with our kiddos. With that being said, lets talk about Mr. Atticus, and what I don't want to forget about him at one!
Atticus has melted my heart from the first moment I met him. How can you not love that bashful smile, and those eyes? Oh my those eyes have stolen many hearts, and I'm sure there will be more in the future. He loves to eat, and his favorite is bananas, avocados, and oranges. He will eat really about anything I give him. He says dada and Viva, but still won't say mama. I have to smile every time I see him sitting at the dog bowl staring at me. Just waiting for me to make my move, and then he splashes like crazy. He loves playing peek a boo, bath time, and climbing the stairs. I love how he won't cuddle with you, but he will put his forehead to yours for just one second to tell you he loves you, and then he is ready to be on the move. I love how ticklish he is under his chin. That giggle makes my day. I love that he loves his Daddy so much. His eyes light up when he walks in the door. I love how laid back he is, and really just goes with the flow. There is no schedule for him with all the running we do! He is absolutely the perfect number four.
This week we celebrated on his real birthday which was Thursday. It was such a beautiful day out. Who would have thought almost 80 degrees in February? He kind of had a rough day battling a nasty cold, and he tipped his high chair over resulting in a goose egg on his head. We did try to make the best of the day though by spending time outside, eating cupcakes, and unwrapping a few gifts.
