A Little of This and Little of That

September was filled of soccer games, practice, the beginning of religious education, and Girls on the Run.  Everything is in full swing from our summer break.
Andy was off to New York a few weeks ago, and I must say I am jealous every time he goes.  He always seems to find his way back to the things that we did while we were there, and I so wish I was there too.  I think we have both fallen in love with New York.  This time he stayed downtown, and was able to go into one of the new buildings that wasn't open yet when we were there.  Such a cool building that is supposed to look like a dove of peace.
He took the people he was with to the High Line for a walk, and then they stopped at a little cute Italian restaurant for dinner.  He also took them to Trinity Church which I think was close to their hotel.

This was a funny little gift that one of the girls bought for Andy at work.  He has this funny title of chief deputy underwriter.  There is a girl that actually went to the trouble of getting Andy a legit badge.  I guess this is not something they typically do, and she had to write a letter as to why she would need a badge.  I think it was also kind of pricey.
A few weeks ago we went to Andy's work picnic.  It was a muddy mess, but the kids had fun, and got some fun balloons.
The neighbor kids all worked on a play that they performed for us all Sunday night.  They made tickets, lined up our chairs, and were so excited to show us.  It was basically a bossy mom telling the kids and dad what they needed to be doing.  It was entertaining, and maybe a little hard to sit through for the parents;)  We also were getting eaten alive during the show so we eventually told them we need to wrap it up and get inside.
Baylor lost his sixth tooth.  He is at that goofy toothless stage that makes me laugh every time he gives us a big smile.
Atticus and I have been having a lot of time together now that the others are in school.  The other day I took him to a play group at the Blue Valley Early Childhood center.  He had a great time vacuuming and going up and down the stairs.
I  took Finley and Atticus to the doctor last Thursday.  Finley is almost 39 inches tall and 32 pounds.  She is in the 90% for her height and I think it was the 60% for weight.  She is as tall as Baylor was when he was four.  Atticus was 22 pounds, and I didn't catch the height but he was 10% for both.
Last weekend Briley's team was asked to be in a soccer tournament because they were short a team.  We went into it with the expectation that we would be inferior to these other teams that are more competitive,  but the girls had such great games.  They won their first game 8-0, the second was 3-1 loss, and the third was a 4-4 tie against the team that went on to win the tournament.  Briley scored two goals in the last game, and I was so upset that I was not there to see it.  It was pouring down rain so I stayed home with the little ones while Andy took Briley.  Briley is at the age that many rec teams fizzle, and people begin to go competitive.  I love that this team has stuck together for five years in this league.  To me it shows that sports is not just about being on the best team, so that one day they may get that college scholarship.  It is about the friendships and memories made.  That is the most important thing in the end.
One of the Mom's does such a great job of documenting the games, and I am forever grateful since Andy and I are usually busy chasing kids.  Here are some that she took of Briley these past two weeks.
Monday was Andy and Viva's birthday celebration.  Andy went to work, and I helped the kids make cards for Andy.  We picked up a cake at Costco, and stopped by to get Viva a treat from the dog bakery.  That night I made Andy his favorite dinner of fried chicken, apples, potatoes, and cornbread. He got the book Killing the Rising Sun, a new Northwest shirt, and Eric Church tickets.  After presents and cake we watched the exciting presidential debate.
Lastly, I have been meaning to post this for awhile and kept forgetting to capture it.  I couldn't tell you when it happened because it was a gradual change, but Briley has moved back to her room to sleep with Finley.  This leaves Baylor by himself.  Viva still sleeps on the floor in his room, but he sneaks into our room when there are storms, and I often find him sleeping on Briley and Finley's floor.  I think he will be happy when Atticus is old enough to move in with him.
