Last weekend my sister came to town on Thursday. She was supposed to get in Wednesday night, but there were delays so she came on Thursday. It had been about six months since she was here last so the kids were very excited to see her or at least most of them. To Atticus, she was a stranger.
We went down to the West bottoms for a little shopping on Friday because it was just gorgeous out. I picked up a few things that I had looked at the week before when I went to the Vintage White Sale. That afternoon we drove to Kirksville. Andy, Briley, and Baylor stayed in Kansas City to go to a Royals game that night. Andy had gotten tickets through work for three suite tickets, but he was very hesitant to take the kids. He really does not want them to choose the Royals over the Cardinals, and a suite with all you can eat food, drinks, warm cookies with milk, and ice cream sundaes would not help that situation, but he went ahead and took them anyway. I told him we just needed to be sure to take them to a Cardinals game next year.
We stopped to see Grandma on our way to Kirksville on Friday, and she seemed excited to see us. I felt that she was doing so much better than the last time we saw her. We visited her on Saturday afternoon too, and she showed us around the place. I had gotten her some colored pencils and an adult coloring book and she seemed to really be excited about coloring in it. I was hoping it might help her with fine motor skills.
We took the kids over to Andy's parent's house on Saturday to swim for a little bit. Andy's parents didn't get home until late that night from their Ireland trip so we didn't see them until Sunday morning. That night we took the kids out to Karen's house for dinner and camping. The kids were very excited to camp out although I don't think anyone slept that well. There were coyotes and roosters to keep them awake.
Sunday morning we got everything ready for Finley's birthday party. Her Pinkalicious party was at Andy's parents house and it turned out very cute. We just had pizza and then I made some green food like guacamole, salad, and green grapes. We really spent the whole day sitting around the pool. Very relaxing lazy day. The kids swam all day so it was the perfect ending to summer. We left Monday afternoon to get back home. We stopped to see Grandma one last time before leaving. I think she was maybe ready for us to get the kids out of her room. They are into everything. When we got home, we helped Andy get the table put together that he had been making, and got some dinner before getting everyone ready for school the next day. Andy used the base from our old kitchen table, and just made a new farmhouse style top. Love the way it turned out!
When we got home Monday, we noticed that picture frames and Baylor's trophy had fallen off of his shelf in his room. We think it may have been from the earthquake that we had Saturday morning. It was strong enough to wake Andy up so I'm guessing it shook the frames down.
The kids went back to school on Tuesday, and Amity took Atticus to the Arboretum to walk around a bit before taking her to the airport. It was great having her visit for a few days.
