Last Tuesday Briley had her end of the year soccer party, and I took the kids to that while Andy loaded our luggage into the car for our surprise trip to Disney World. We got home, had baths, and then Finley began to throw up. Yay! She was sick most of the night, and I don't think Andy and I got much sleep at all.
At 4:30a.m. we began getting ready, and when Finley woke up she seemed to be feeling much better. We gave her a bath, and then I got a present for the kids to open. I woke Baylor up and told him it was time to get ready for school, but first he had a present to open. He was not excited at all, but Finley and Briley were. We quickly got them ready, and away we went to the airport.
Our flight was quick, and we made it to our hotel around 1:00. The only thing on the agenda was Chef Mickey that night so we got lunch and spent the day at the pool. It was so nice to have a day at the hotel to relax. The kids got another surprise when Amity showed up at the hotel to spend the week with us.
Chef Mickey was better than what Andy and I had remembered from our first trip. The food seemed to be better, and the kids loved meeting the characters. My favorite part was Donald Duck trying to get Baylor's attention while he was too busy eating his ice cream to stop and say hello. I also loved the distance between Baylor and Pluto. Atticus was not sure what to think of these characters, and he was not comfortable with them getting too close to him. After we were finished, we made our way back to our hotel to get a good nights sleep before our first day.
Day 2:
We headed to Animal Kingdom for the morning, and we got there as the park was opening. We went straight to Kilamanjaro Safari with only a ten minute wait. As we were waiting in line, Briley asked me what we were doing next, and I said Expedition Everest. She told me her stomach didn't feel well, but I thought it was just nerves. That was not the case as she began to throw up. We made our way out of line, and I took her to the hotel while everyone had a day at Animal Kingdom.
Everyone else enjoyed the rapids, animals, Lion King, Everest, and dole whips that day while I sat on the porch watching the animals and reading.
Briley got sick several times that day, and still was sick when it was time to go to Magic Kingdom so I took the others while Andy stayed back with her. We ran to our dinner reservation at Liberty Tree, and that is where we met Andy's family. Finley was so excited to see Lola! We didn't have much time to talk because our tables were spread apart, and afterward we had different fast passes in different places. Baylor kept telling us he didn't feel well, but I think he was just hot so I took off part of his costume. We went to the Buzz ride which is one of Baylor's favorites, and he felt better after that. Andy and Briley showed up shortly after that, and we did a few more rides before finding a spot to watch the Halloween parade and Hocus Pocus show. Both were great, but the crowds can kind of get to you after awhile. The later show is less crowded, but we knew our kids wouldn't make it.
After the show we went to Fantasyland and that is where we finally ran into Andy's family again. We rode Dumbo, Teacups, It's a Small World, and Barnstormer (where Briley lost her hat). After that we went to watch the fireworks. We got one more ride in, and then it was time to head back to the hotel.
Day 3
Briley was feeling much better today, and I was so thankful. We went to Hollywood Studios that morning where we did Star Tours, Tower of Terror, and Toy Story Mania. My favorite moments for this morning had to be the Army guy and Atticus. He loved his squeaky shoes and they stomped around together. It was so cute. I also have to say as much as I hate Tower of Terror, a lot of laughter came of it. I loved the fight on what numbers we were going to all stand on because no one wanted to sit in the middle seat that had nothing to hold on to(Allison was the lucky one). I love the faces in our pictures, and Owen. I love Mary Carol's cackle as we kept falling. I loved the moment that I stepped off of it. I lived through it once again.
After that we went to lunch, and then to the hotel. I was beginning to not feel so well so Andy took the kids to the pool while I rested. I was having lower back pain, and my stomach was not good. I'm not one to throw up so I fought it although it might have made me feel better to let it out. I got in the hot tub for awhile, and then it was time to suck it up for the night at Epcot.
We had our Princess dinner at Akershaus that night, and I thought the food was pretty good, although I really only took a couple of bites. We sat by Andy's family, and Lola came over for all the pictures. I was glad because it got Finley to get not be so shy.
After dinner we had a fast pass for test track, and then we went to Mission Space, and Crush. Baylor loved Test Track. I think it was his favorite ride overall. He loved designing the car, and then racing it.
Day 4
We woke up early and made our way to Epcot to ride Soarin. We got on, and I loved it. We actually got my Mom on this one, but she missed it due to having her eyes closed. This is one of my favorites! After that we went to meet Baymax while Andy, Amity, and Briley rode Soarin again. We went to have some breakfast in the world showcase, and then we capped it off with a sample of Filet Mignon in Canada. So good!
After we finished that we met Andy's family for a few minutes, and then it was time to meet Anna and Elsa. The kids are terrible with meeting characters. They don't want to go near them so our pictures are never really cute. I thought Finley would be so excited but she was not at all. We then made our way to the Frozen ride. It was so cool! The detail they put into this ride was really amazing, and I think it ranks at the top of my favorites.
That evening we went back for a final time at Magic Kingdom at night. We ate at Tony's for dinner, and the kids really enjoyed their spaghetti. After dinner we kind of wondered around for awhile because the crowds were so bad. We got the merry go round, Mickey's Philharmagic, and Dumbo in before meeting up with Andy's family. We rode Haunted Mansion together, and poor Baylor about lost it when he saw we were going on that ride again. It is not a favorite of his. We skipped the Wishes show which I love, but I don't think the kids could do another night of sitting still in a crowd. We said goodbye to those that were leaving in the morning, and then we hit Dumbo one more time for Baylor. He loves Dumbo, and every ride that was similar to Dumbo.
We made our way back to our hotel, and said our sleepy good byes to Amity because she was leaving in the morning at 4:00 a.m. It was so wonderful to have Amity there to share this experience with, and I hated she had to leave before our last day. Thank you for being a part of the magic with us.
Day 5
We got up early, and made it to Magic Kingdom for the Good Morning song when they open up the park. It is silly, but I always get kind of choked up at the opening ceremony to the Magic Kingdom. You look across the crowd of excited children, and you just can't help but be happy. We walked in, and went straight to Mine Train along with everyone else. Finley was not a fan, and had a very scared whine throughout. We got off, and she said she did not want to ride that scary ride ever again. Baylor surprisingly loved it.
We then did Peter Pan flight. This is probably my favorite ride from childhood, and I love all the new improvements they made to it. You now walk through the Darling house on your way to the ride, and there are a few interactive things to do along the way. Love all the details. From there we did Mermaid ride, breakfast at Gaston's, Buzz, Astro Orbitor (a little faster than what I had remembered), Belle's Enchanted Stories, Barnstormer, and then we met Andy's parents and Molly for Splash Mountain.
Splash Mountain on this day was quite an event. Briley decided she didn't want to go so Andy picked her up kicking and screaming to take her to the line. When he sat her down, she started to run towards my Mom, but she had already walked off so Briley had no choice but to come with us. She actually cried about it, but as the ride began she calmed down, and actually said it was fun when we got off. She told us she was glad she did it.
After that we went on Pirates of the Caribbean because someone had given me a handful of fast passes to this ride the night before. Finley was a little nervous after Mine train, but she did ok with it. Lastly we went back for one more ride on Mine Train. Love this ride, and the kids did too.
When we finished we went to Be Our Guest for lunch, and then Andy's parents and Molly said their good byes and left. After we ate, we let the kids find their souvenirs. We went back to the hotel for naps and swimming one last time.
That night we went to Epcot for dinner in Germany's Biergarten. It is a fun atmosphere, and kept Finley and Atticus entertained while we ate. I had been hesitant about the food, but it was really good. They had a yummy creamy tomato soup with homemade croutons that hit the spot for me. The waitstaff was also very friendly.
When we left, we decided to walk around the World Showcase, and we ran into a concert that was about to start. Turns out it was Hanson. I told Andy we just had to stay to hear Mmm-Bop. Finley really thought they were great. They did about five songs, and then we continued on our way around.
We rode Test track one more time, and then it was time to say goodbye to Disney until next time.
I think the next time we come how much easier it will be to not have babies and toddlers, but then I think how sad that kind of is that the next time we go our kids will be so much older. Loved this trip just as much as the first two. I love sharing the magic with them, and all the memories that are made.
Briley's favorite:
Not So Scary Halloween Party, and running into her cousins.
Magic Kingdom is my favorite park duh.
Complaining about the boring rides we rode, but then throwing a fit when we forced her on Splash Mountain.
Baylor's favorite:
Test track and Mine Train are loved the same amount.
While walking along with Amity he said, "aren't you glad my Mom and Dad had kids?"
Finley's Favorite:
Peter Pan's Flight and the Frozen ride was good.
Meeting Minnie Mouse.
Atticus's Favorite:
Meeting the Army Green Man
He really wasn't too impressed by anything else. It takes a lot to get him excited;)
