Spring Break

As I left off before, the kids wrapped up gymnastics, and we have jumped right into spring sports.  Soccer is in full swing, and softball started last weekend.  With our house renovations, Andy's crazy work schedule, Easter preparations, and birthday celebrations we have been busy.
A few weeks ago I took Finley and Atticus to the fire station for a tour with the our mom's group at Church.  The kids both loved checking out the fire trucks, and seeing where they live while they are at the fire station.  Atticus loved all the reclining chairs lining the living area.
Later that week we got the phone call that Asa had been hit by a line drive in baseball practice.  He had fractured his skull and was sent to Columbia for monitoring since it was bleeding.  He spent two days in the hospital there before going home.  He stayed at my Mom's house for a week, and seems to be doing better although he still has some pain.  I'm sure it will be a while before he fully recovers, but while we were there for spring break, we had seen a lot of improvement from the Tuesday to Sunday.
Since we were getting our house worked on over spring break, I took the kids to Kirksville.  They had a great time with their cousins and grandparents.  We made a trip to Quincy so they could have a day at a fun park.  They loved the bumper cars, arcade games, and laser tag.  We got some exciting prizes.  After they played we stopped at Steak n Shake before heading home.  We had a wonderful waiter who dealt with two tables of kids.  He even brought out macaroni and cheese for Atticus after he saw that Finley got it even though he had ordered chicken strips.
I also took the kids to Shelbina to see Grandma for a little bit.  She was very happy to see the kids, and seemed to be in good spirits while we were there.  They had a baby pig that was there that day so the kids loved seeing it.  One of the nurses had brought it in.
St. Patrick's Day was Saturday, and Briley decided at 9:30 she wanted to do the race that started at 10:00.  We ran up there and got her signed in just in time.  I would have ran with her, but I didn't have any clothes to wear in the weather.  It was raining, and so cold.  She didn't seem to mind doing it by herself.  She finished the race in fourth place, and was done before my Mom and Dad could get there to watch her.  We stayed for the parade, but waited inside the Dukum until then.  Finley had a meltdown because it was stinky(corned beef and cabbage was on the menu).
That afternoon we had ice-cream with Dad, and then I took Briley and Baylor to Farwells while Finley and I went to Rick and Lisa's for a bit.  We capped off the day by eating corned beef sandwiches for dinner at my mom's.
Sunday morning we got up for Church and then left shortly after that to get home.  The kids were excited to get home and see their newly painted rooms.  The colors turned out really nice.  I was glad they were able to get the kids rooms done while we were gone, and then they continued on the next week by doing the bathrooms.
The house has been a mess for over a week, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.  They are hoping to have everything finished up today.  Fingers are crossed that happens. I love the way it all looks so far, and I can't wait to see the end product.  I'll post pictures when it all gets complete.  Andy and I are a little jealous of the kid's bathrooms.
