Busy Weeks Ahead

This past weekend was a crazy busy one.  I signed my Mom up to volunteer for our school's 5k race that was 8 Saturday morning. They needed someone that lived by our house to be stationed there in case anyone needed anything.   Baylor had a soccer game at 8 so I took him to that, Andy and Briley ran the race, and Mom and the kids cheered them on as they ran by our house.
Baylor played so well at his soccer game and he got two goals so that is always fun to watch.  Briley and Andy did really well in the race also.  They both came in third place for their age groups so they got a medal and movie pass.  Briley started off running with her friends, but they kept stopping to walk so when Andy ran by her she took off after him.  Andy thought she could have probably gotten a better time had she not wasted time waiting on her friends, but it was all for fun this year.  She might be more competitive next year.  She ran the race in 26:46.  She came in 7th over all for females.  What is crazy is she hadn't been training for this at all.  I think we might have a girl who likes to run.

Atticus has gotten in the habit of coming in our room in the middle of the night to snuggle up with us.  Sometimes we notice and put him on the floor beside our bed, and sometimes he succeeds in sleeping between us.  He gets right in between our pillows, and hands are always behind his head.

Last week we had May Day.  The kids had a busy night with practice so they didn't begin delivering baskets until it was dark.  I completely missed getting a picture, and it probably wouldn't have turned out well anyway.  They ran around in their pajamas delivering baskets.  Our neighbors two kids were doing the same thing at the same time so it was entertaining to watch all the kids running around and being sneaky.
The kids also celebrated the May Crowning at Church on Wednesday.  I snuck into to watch them all come up the aisle with their flowers, and they sang the Evening Prayer.  It was really very sweet.  They ended by having root beer floats since this was their last class of the year.

After Church we had Briley's softball game at 7:15.  I watched part of it and then took the kids home for baths.  We had barely gotten home when Andy showed up behind us with Briley.  The game was cancelled due to lightening.  I was sitting on the couch reading with Baylor when we heard the sirens.  It didn't look bad out, but we went to the basement anyway.  The news said if you lived between 135th and Town Center, and between Nall and Mission to take cover.  That is exactly where our neighborhood is so we hung out in the bathroom for about 45 minutes.  The next day we got an email saying school had been cancelled because the tornado took out 6 power lines in front of the school.  There were some trees that had snapped, but other than that everything looked fine.  The kids were excited for a "snow day" and spent the whole day outside playing.

Friday night Finley had dance pictures, and then we made a meal for the neighbors who recently lost their daughter to melanoma.  After that, some of our old neighbors came over to have a few drinks and catch up.  It had been awhile since we had all gotten together.
The next day we got up early to go to Pella for their tulip festival and to see Sadie get baptized on Sunday.  The festival was warm, but the food was great, and we enjoyed the parade and of course tulips.  I have wanted to see this for awhile so I'm glad we got the opportunity to come.
The next morning we went to Church for Sadie's baptism.  It was a nice mass, and loved that they sing Sanctuary before communion.  Makes me think of K-Life and Kamp.   Music was very pretty overall.  Sadie was the sweetest during her baptism, and I wish I could have taken a picture of her from our angle.  Her face was precious as he poured the water over her head.  Briley took most of the pictures of the weekend to prepare for photography club this week.  She has been inspired to go home and plant tulips.
