Happy Double Digits to Finley!

Finley celebrated her 10th birthday last week.  A lot of big birthdays in our house this year with a 16, 13, and 10 year old.  She has been talking about her birthday all summer long, and the day finally got here.  She wanted a spa themed party, so I decorated with some poufs, candles, and banners that I have used for past birthdays.  She wanted German pancakes for breakfast, and then was off to school.

That evening, we had chicken and dumplings for her dinner.  She claims that she is for sure the favorite because Andy only makes them for her birthday and mine.  She opened her presents, and was excited about all of them.  She got new clothes, earrings, she is getting her room redone, and some spa items.  She couldn't wait to organize all her new body care items in the basement bathroom that she has now taken over as her own.  We had ice cream cake to end the birthday evening.  She was all smiles, and loved her day.

That following Saturday, we hosted a slumber party for her.  It was bigger than what I usually let them do, but she has so many friends, and a lot have birthdays right around the time that she does so we ended up with 10 sweet girls.  We did face masks, foot soaks, and made body scrubs.  When it got dark, they were out playing capture the flag  until it was time to settle in for the night.  They quieted down around 11:30ish, so not too bad, but we had a wake up call at 2:30 when one of her friends decided she wanted to go home.  After I got her dropped off, I came home, and Finley and a friend were up asking what happened to Margot.  I got them back to bed, and then went to sleep for a couple more hours.  Two of the girls had early soccer games so I had to get up early to get breakfast ready for them.  The girls ate, and all of them were gone by 9:30.  Andy and I were exhausted, and Finley is already talking about next year's party.

10 Things we love about Miss Finley on her 10th birthday!
1)Her smile with that cute gap between her front teeth.
2)She is our loudest cheerleader.
3)Caring to all those around her.
4)Helpful; she does things around the house without ever being asked.
5)Graceful; whether that is on the stage dancing, or out on the soccer field.
6)Creative; she always uses her imagination when playing or crafting.
7)Organized; This girl loves making lists, and organizing. She truly gets excited when I ask her to help me clean a closet or drawers.
8)Hard worker; she does her best, and if things don't come easy, she doesn't give up.
9)She is our little fish in the pool. I love watching her glide across the water at meets. She makes it look so easy, and that definitely did not come from me.
10Excitable; she gets so excited about everything. She has the best reaction to surprises.
A light shines within her, and she brings us pure joy.

So thankful to be celebrating Finley being a decade old. May she always be as sweet as she is right now. Being ten is the best!
