Early Vacation

We just got back from our trip to the beach with Andy's family.  We stayed in the same house we had stayed in two years ago when we were there.  It is really a great location between Alys Beach and Rosemary, and I might be a little sad that we are growing out of it.  The first two days had rough water and the kids loved getting out there and using their boogie boards, but then it went calm and the water became so clear.  I haven't seen it that clear since Finley was a baby.  We rented paddle boards, they did some snorkeling, catching little fish, and sandcastle building.
This year we also had Cousin Olympics throughout the week. Each day we would play a few games, and at the end of the week was the awards ceremony. The green team won the olympics this year, and they were very excited. Finley got the individual award for best attitude so that was fun for her.
We also celebrated Molly and Brad's engagement, and she handed out little cards to tell everyone what they are.  Briley is a junior bridesmaid, Baylor is an usher, Finley is a flower girl, and Atticus is a ring bearer.  They are all very excited about that.  Brad's parents came for the first part of the trip to meet everyone, and they seem very sweet.
This year I got up and walked each morning to explore the towns by us.  I just love walking along the streets, and through the cute little neighborhoods.  I went by myself the first couple of days, and then people began to come along with me. Andy has decided to join Allison, Brad, and maybe Zane in doing a half ironman next summer, and so they were all up each morning swimming, riding bikes, and going on runs.  Andy is doing his first triathlon this coming Sunday.
We had one night where we went out to dinner.  We went to Seagrove Market Cafe which is a place we had gone to many years ago.  We hadn't gone back because the flies were horrible in the place, but they just rebuilt it, and it was great.  The po boy was so good.  Afterwards it was off to Seaside for Frost Bites before heading back to the house.
The last day we were sitting at the beach when a storm came in very quickly.  As we were packing up,; umbrellas began to fly out of the crowd.  The guys stayed down to get the rest of the stuff as we ran the kids up to the house.  It was absolute chaos trying to get everyone up the stairs and out of harms way of the flying umbrellas.
After the storm we decided to go back down, and I am glad we did because it was beautiful.  There was a sandbar the kids played on, and the weather was much cooler.  It was truly a beautiful last afternoon.
The next morning when we got up, the Sedlaks, Farwells, Taylors, and Bobziens were already gone.  We were the last ones to leave since our flight was later in the afternoon.  We had breakfast at Grits and Grind with the Brawners and then went over to Seaside for one last Frostbite.  It is much less crowded there in the afternoon than it is in the evening.
Overall, it was such a fun trip full of great memories.  It is hard to believe that when we do this again, we will have a high schooler.  Time definitely flies by too fast.
