We got home from vacation, and began a whirlwind of activities. Some old neighbors of ours that moved to Chicago were back visiting so on Monday we went out for happy hour that continued until about 10:30. Not a typical way to start the week, but we had a great time catching up. The next day my Mom came for Baylor's baseball game. After the game they had a pool party so we were off to that. My Mom left the next morning with Baylor, Finley, and Atticus to go back to Kirksville. Since the kids were gone, I took Briley downtown for a lunch. We walked around the Crossroads afterwards, and watched the Blue Angels practice for the upcoming air show. We also ran into a pretty big fire at a Uhaul storage building. I'm sure the kids would have loved to have seen it.
That night we went to Briley's softball game, and then it was home to pack for Kirksville. We left early the next day so we could enjoy some time at the pool, and get ready for the party that night. The kids swam all day, and they stopped by the fireworks tent later that afternoon. I think Baylor really enjoyed helping pick out the fireworks. We seem to have a lot of pyros in the household. Atticus surprisingly was not scared of the fireworks at all, and thankfully we made it through the night with no injuries. I don't know how many times I had to tell him to back up.
It was a beautiful evening as far as weather, and it is always great seeing everyone. I love it when we have the chance to come home for the Fourth.
The next day was more time at the pool, and then we went to Pear Tree to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It has been too long since I have eaten there. Baylor informed them that it was his birthday so he got a little treat at the end along with singing. My Dad hates that kind of attention, but the kids enjoyed it.
Andy raced in his first triathlon on Sunday morning. We got there just in time to see him finishing up his swim in the lake. He didn't see us, but we followed him to the bike area, and got a big smile before he took off. While he left on the bike, the kids made some signs for him and then we went to watch him do that. He finished the race in under two hours, and got third in his age group which is pretty good for your first race. He has signed up for another one in August, a half marathon in October, and half ironman next June. I think he has found a new passion.
We made an outing last week to the blueberry patch. The kids are always happy to pick blueberries for a bit because they know that afterwards we will go into the bakery for a treat. They have some yummy things to eat there.
Softball and baseball wrapped up this past weekend. Baylor's team won the first game in the tournament and were close to winning the second one. It always seems to be that things start clicking at the end of the season. Briley's team made it to the championship game and won! It was very exciting to see. They were playing the first place team who they had previously only lost by one but we did not have our whole team for the game. It was fun to play them again with a full roster. The girls were very excited, and I hope they all stay together next year.
Swim team wrapped up on Tuesday with champs so we are now officially done with activities for a couple of weeks! It is nice to have a break from all the running. Now it is time to go to the pool, and do some adventuring in the city before Kamp starts.

Happy Fourth and the end of another season.
Finley has started jumping off the diving board.
Pizza was a hit.
Atticus is always "helping" our neighbors with their yard work.
