Summer Fun Continued

So after our sports were all done, it was time to scratch a few things off our bucket list, and get ready for Kamp.  Before Briley and Baylor left, we managed to hit three parks in the area.  One of them was a new one that just opened, and the kids all loved it.
Baylor finished up his tennis lessons that he did over the summer.  He seemed to have really enjoyed it, and wants me to sign him up again next year.  The J has a great tennis pro that does a really good job teaching them.
Next was dropping the kids off at Kamp.  Briley went to K-7 this year which was a whole new experience for her.  She and Ellie were in the same cabin so they were happy about that.  I really feel like this was a big year for her at Kamp when they dig in a little deeper into their faith, and the talks that were given really stuck with her.
Baylor was dropped off at K- Kountry with a big smile on his face.  He was in the same barn as Brady so that was fun.  He had some great counselors this week, and I think that really made the week fun for him.  He did however get sick on Thursday morning, and had to spend the day and night in the nurses station which was a bummer.  He missed their tubing outing, and he had really been looking forward to that.  I don't know why he gets sick every year at kamp.  One of his counselors did come in that evening to eat dinner with him, watch a movie, play legos, and then took him to K-Life where they sat in the back so he didn't get others sick.  He also got to go to K-1 and K-Kaui on the golf cart with the nurse so that was fun for him.
While they were at Kamp, we had so much fun at home.  We got to get ice cream one night, go to the pool, and a trip to Crown Center.  They were both so excited to play and eat at Crown Center, and they are certain they had more fun than Briley and Baylor.  They loved being top dogs at the house.
On Sunday when we got home, Andy and I got up at 4:30a.m. to head to Smithville for his triathlon.  Briley watched the kids because I knew they wouldn't be interested in getting up that early after camp, but I do think they would have maybe enjoyed it.  This triathlon was started in memory of a navy seal from Kansas City who died in Afghanistan in a helicopter crash.  The money from the race went to veteran charities.  They had parachuters that came down carrying flags at the beginning of the race, and I think Atticus would have thought that was pretty cool.  They also had pictures of all those that died in that crash along the race route.
Andy finished the race 2 hours and 10 minutes with a 1000 meter swim, 19 mile bike, and a 10K  run.  He got second place in his age group, and we have his metal on display in the living room.  Now we have a little break before his half marathon in October.
The last week of summer vacation is here, and unfortunately Baylor passed on his really awful virus to Briley and Finley.  My fingers are crossed everyone is feeling better by the time we leave tomorrow.  We had a lot of big plans for this week, but unfortunately not much happened with all the sickness.  Hopefully we can get a few more things in before school starts next Thursday.  Hard to believe that summer is coming to an end.  It went way too fast!

Giving each other massages one night.

On our way out of Branson we saw these cars and the car lover had to stop to see them.  This is one of his favorite movies right now.

Baylor bought Finley this penguin for an early birthday present while he was at kamp.  She gave him a photo session.

And this penguin has been cruising the cul-de-sac, and helping with yard work.
