Well, we kicked off January with Omicron. I got sick during Christmas break, and then Briley, Baylor, and Atticus followed. Andy and Finley were the only ones to escape it. We all had fevers, tired, runny noses, and a cough that still lingers to this day. The kids were in between their covid shots so now that we have all gotten our updated shots, we have super immunity; or at least until the next variant comes along.
Baylor got braces this month! Asa said that they looked all too natural on him, and I would agree. He is hitting a fun age. We have already been back in because he somehow bent a wire in the back. He is the kid that finds a way to break everything.
We did have some snow over MLK weekend, and took advantage of it. The kids are the perfect age to love going sledding, and Andy and I enjoyed it too.
My Mom came to town that Sunday to redeem her Christmas present. I got tickets for her, Briley, and Finley to see Wicked. I'm so glad we were all well, and the weather cooperated. It is one of my favorite shows, and they all loved it too. The downtown was decked out in Red for the Chiefs, and we made it back to the house to watch the fourth quarter of the game. Moving on to the next game.
Lissy came to town to hang out for a few days. Caroline had her Christmas things still up so we did a Christmas in January. She made the traditional Christmas meal, and we opened a few presents that we found around the house to give to each other.
Andy and Jared went to the Chiefs game on Sunday while the girls came to our house. I got out some old decorations, and we ordered pizza. The score bounced back and fourth with the Bills scoring in the last 13 seconds of the game. Andy told Jared he was heading to the car, and to get there now. Turns out, they shouldn't have left. We were able to get close enough for a field goal and the game went into overtime. Later we heard that Reid told Mahomes, "When it's grim, be the Grim Reaper and go get it." Well, he did, and we won! Andy was so mad at himself for missing what they say could be the best playoff game in history. Now let's see if we can win one more time, and head to the Super Bowl!
Thursday night was Finley's First Reconciliation. She was so nervous about going in to talk to Father Brian. We practiced a lot beforehand, and she came out with a big smile on her face. We are very proud of her.
Basketball and soccer have been in full swing. Atticus is rocking it although you wouldn't guess it by looking at his size compared to others. Finley is doing well, but she says this isn't her favorite sport. Baylor says it is his last season, but he just had one amazing game so I'm going to guess he will be back at it next year.
